Now that i am here in warrington , it changed saying "error" :bigcry: and when i tried to call them 6.50/min call it says " This Number are barred to ur Cellphone" :Erm: waaaaa...wat would i do now? btw , my load was 224 when i was in phils .

it depends on where you are.it changes to strong signal to the nearest mast.and I think you have to have a credit of 200 for you to be able to use your phone here and dont forget it cost you about 25 peso I think/text message and if your credit zero u cant recieve any text or phone call from home thru your roaming sim.thats the reason i have stop using mine and I switch to mibile world.you could go to your nearest carphone warehouse for deatils.hope that hepls.:)

Welcome to the UK firstly.
What phone do you have? Also is your phone on manual or automatic roaming?
If your not sure how do that post the model number and brand and im sure we can help you check.
The wife has used a roaming sim and with some companies it worked others it did not.
What mrs Daddy says about minimum load i can remeber being an issue.
you can purchase load on line in the UK and im sure from some phill stores.

When I was in the UK, I used my Smart SIM just for receiving SMS from Phils. I sent SMS online from Skype (only about 5p, if I remember correctly). This way, I didn't use up my Smart load too quickly.

Texting from abroad in roaming mode is expensive, it cost you P20 to P30 depending on the network used.
Roaming may not be available with all GSM network (some are not recognized by Globe or Smart, it's not only in UK but in other countries as well). You can try to select manually your network and it may work. Usually with well known network (IE Vodaphone or T-mobile) it works.
If you do not want to spend too much with your load, use it only to receive messages and send them thru Chikka, Yahoo or Skype. That's the best deal.

hi! it's not true that you need to have a maintaining balance of 500 pesos per day. I also have a Globe sim and I only load it 300 pesos. Globe will charge you 25 pesos per message sent. What I usually do is send messages to the Philippines by using chikka & my family will reply to my mobile phone without charges.

Use Chikka, it's free to send text message to Philippines mobiles (sending from a Philippines mobile within the Philippines to Chikka is P2.5).

I did try using Chika, but had problems ... I can't remember, now, whether it limited the number of messages I could send, or the replies went back to Chika instead of my phone. Perhaps it was just that the charge for replying from Phils is significantly higher than an ordinary SMS.
With Skype, you can set it up so that a reply to your message goes directly to your phone and, therefore, only costs one peso..

You're limited to 30 messages for Globe and 20 for Smart/day.

that's why I don't have roaming sim card too expensive for a maintaining bal everyday and its better that way coz for sure I am going to recieve hundreds of txt messages for my family and friends bec its only 1 peso for them but for me to reply will cost me a few penny. So I just ring them every now and then and send offline messages in yahoo or chatting once in a while

Get a Lembara SIM locally. It is free but comes pre-loaded with £5 of credit. Texts to the Phil cost £0.10 and calls cost £0.10 per minute to both landlines and cell phones.

You will have less friends with the cost of texting abroad from the Philippines... P20 to P30 per text message depending on the network.
