Just want to know if anybody here send a tv to Phils and if it is working there as my husband said it might not work bec in Phils they're using american standard??? Im not sending tv but my friend is thinking to send one bec a flat screen tv is so cheap here. Can anybody help. Thanks

Don't send a TV, they use the US standard (NTSC) and not the European ones. It's really not a good idea.

Better to buy one there, you will not have the sending cost, you will be sure it will work for the Filipino networks (either aerial or cable network) and it will be easier to have it repaired (usually European appliance are not repairable there). And it will surely be cheaper there ... Last time I checked (but not for TV), it was 10 to 20% less expensive in the Philippines.

Ive noticed a lot of new TV's use the both the NTSC and PAL standard, but Yves is right - I would buy it in Philippines.

A morden one would work. But the postage would defeat the object of buying it here and taking over surely?
Also if mr or mrs customs officer decided to tap you for some money savings all gone for sure.

Most modern TVs will work on either video system, but I think the problem may be different. Looking at the antennas in the Philippines, they use VHF for the videon and a seperate lower VHF frequency for the audio, and the signals are often weak. Many TVs sold in the UK dont cover VHF, only UHF, so will not even be able to receive the signal.

But I saw 37" LCD TVs there for around P40k, so it would be more expensive to send it anyway.

... in the Philippines. Buying here with the sending cost is far expensive than buying there (I do not speak of the high risk of the TV set to be broken or stolen before arriving).
And it will not be repairable there as the models are customized per region. I had the case during a stay there where my European electronics was not repairable because they can't get the parts (only asian model parts can be ordered from the Philippines).

Don't waste your money!
