ammend passport -FLR clarification

Hello everyone,

I've just send my papers for ROM and the ammend of passport last Monday Sept. 8. The Phil. Emb. just gave me call telling me that they can't ammend the new passport ( maroon cover) unless I want my new passport be renewed which I didn't decide to renew it since I've changed my new passport just this year of Feb. I was thinking of doing my ammend passport on my next renewal. Do you think I made the right decision? Would it affect for my FLR application that my passport is still the maiden surname? How about opening for bank account would that be affected too? Please I need all your inputs.

My wife applied for FLR and opened up bank accounts before we got her passport amended. We just used our marriage certificate as proof of her new name. Admittedly this was about 3 years ago, though I don't think things would have changed.
