Hi everyone,

Judging by the latest success stories here the average wait at the moment on settlement visa decisions seems to be between 10 and 11 weeks. We submitted our application in October and by Christmas day would have been waiting 9 weeks and 2 days. Does anyone know how long a holiday the embassy staff have over the Christmas period? Is it likely to be just a couple of days or does the visa section close for the entire duration of the Christmas and new year period? Obviously the nerves are starting to build now as we move into the 3rd month of waiting and we would like to have the decision as soon as possible.

Thanks Rusty. Five days over Christmas if you include the weekend. I'm guessing we will hear a couple of weeks into the new year. Just hope my (then) wife will be able to spend next Christmas here with me.
