Hi Mrs. J Major,
In my humble opinion, it depends.
Example if they have known each other for quiet sometime and let say he is caring, generous, and thoughtful and those traits that made the woman fell for him, then love develops.
I have a friend who married to a guy whose 25 years older than her, she used to be the guy`s carer for 5 years then they fell inloved to each other so they decided to get married, so that would be called LOVE.
But some they willing to marry the guy even he is a lot older than her and even she has not know him that long, well thats entirely their own choice.
I just feel so sorry for those women who can afford to leave this beautiful country Oh my Philippines! :icon_lol: and migrate to foreign land just to live with the man that she does not really love or she just marry him because she just wanted to get out of the country as you said in your post Mrs. JMajor.
And I feel so sorry for that guy, too that she just used him. :NoNo:

Hi Angel,
Yes you are right, nothing can replace our own home land.:xxgrinning--00xx3:
But, if its the first option is to live with your hubby in the UK or if its the work is the reason why you live in the UK, then we just have to accept the reality that we can not change the weather in the UK hehehehe... I love cuddling on the sofa when its very very cold at least we do not need to use airconditioner in the UK. hehehe korni ko noh...
But anyway, yes like you when Im in the UK I miss the warm weather, yung tipong pinagpapawisan kahit walang ginagawa hahahaha ( I mean here in the Phils. even youre not doing anything you`ll get sweaty yukkk, but its good its burning unwanted fats. :icon_lol: ).
Whilst in the UK ohhh I got to do some work out to burn these fats huhuhu I got to do 1 hour running in the morning and 30 minutes work out on my exercise bike.
I love Philippines :ARsurrender:

This is a bit of an over-reaction Mrs Daddy :NoNo:. MrsJ.Major made a valid comment. We all know some will do anything to get to the UK. If you doubt this, ask anyone in Government involved with immigration.

I have read Mrs. JMajor`s post. What I understood in her post was she used the word "some" so that means not in general.
Lets face the truth, that is a fact that SOME men like to marry a woman whose a lot younger than him, for whatever reasons.
We have close friend in the UK who married to Asian (not Filipina) whose age is half of his age. He said, he liked younger wife because according to him (again not in general) that wester women tends to look matured faster than men.
Likewise, SOME women likes to marry older man. Some said, matured man is more caring :icon_lol:they said its like you have three-in-one package deal :icon_lol::icon_lol: you have a lover, a father like, and a grandfather.:icon_lol: Thats just Pinoy korni jokes about it.:icon_lol::icon_lol:

You're right Simplelife! mamatay sila sa inggit ehehehe I met some inggitera and said my hubby is old unlike her hubby who is young. Well, I said I'm 46 and he's 50 but we look 20 years younger than our age. You and your hubby are in 30's but you look both 20 years older than your age. I think we filipinos has this dream living abroad for a better life what else. Since I experience living here for nearly 5 years now I must admit I beginning to like the lifestlye here, for me its simple not complicated. Im not complaining about the weather bec I get use to it now as well, we can't do anything about it beside this is UK known for unpredictable weather according to my Brits colleagues:Erm:
I think those filipinos about to go here in UK, you should ask your fiancee or husband things about UK. I know most of filipinos don't have much ideas where UK is or what's in UK. When im still in Phils I never heard much about UK I have no single idea about this country aside fom the King and Queen thingy. Even my friends in the Phils think I am going to work in Middleast bec sounds like Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and asking me what languange they speak here. I mean we filipinos all our life we have this thinking of american dream our mind focus about everything about america and nothing else.
IMHO, living abroad is not easy at all, may be there's more money here but you need to do loads of sacrifices to settle here. I missed everything about Phils that's one thing for sure.

we're here in the Phils. just got back from the UK.
You know, why I asked you if you have kids it because,
if for instance you have kids from your previous marriage are you going to take them with you to the UK even the kids tell you that they want to stay here in the Philippines because they are happier to stay with their Grandparents in familiar surrounding?
Or you will just ignore their wishes and still take them unhappy to the UK?
Of course you will likely to grant their wishes to stay. Anyway, its either they will decide to settle with you to UK in the future or you will come back here to visit them or to stay here permanently when your hubby retired from work.
Of course, it is a big question mark if her child is still small baby, but unlikely, because if the Filipina has kids from previous relationships, mostly the kids are already grown up, unless that Filipina is still pregnant when she started to have relationship with her British BF of course she has to take the baby with her to the UK.
The fact is hundred thousands of Filipina mother left her kids behind to work abroad to be able her to give her children a better life.
Like our mate Mavid said " It's All In The Name Of LOVE".

That reminds me of the joke thats something like this:
a 50 year old man is at a party with his 20 year old wife, his friend comes up to him and says " how did you get such a young pretty wife?"
the man replies " i lied about my age"
his friend says " how old did you say you are?"
man says "82!"
anyway this is forum about opinions will always be different but I would say that if you CHOOSE to live in a different country then dont bitch about it.
And if the english weather is bad just remember you can drink the tap water, eat food without flies on " or cockroaches near!" for the whole year!
Oh, and also if i`m not sure about people urinating in the garden when kids could play nearby when the toilet "or c.r." isnt far away is nice too?
Everywhere has its good and bad points so hey lighten up and people can marry whoever they want to as long as they are happy.

Hey guys, don't get me wrong here
hi mrs major. im married to Brit as well, though I met him thru my colleagues at work:). I mean I met him here in UK already as I am working as a Nurse. I have a few friends in Phils asking to find them a husband here specially a British one.
3 reasons I usually get are:
1. To be here/live abroad so they can help their families.
2. They said they don't mind old one as love can be learn though they prepared young and good looking one
3. They want to get out of the country (Phils) by any means.
Its a sad but true. Mostly our kababayans thinks that being out the country and work abroad is the only way. Well, im one those filipinos who strive hard and went to all agencies in the Phils just to get out of the country and have a good future. Being here in the UK for 8 years now I would say I get what I want Im not rich but I have a good husband and 2 cute children.
Happy New Year and all the best. I think you are just being open on the realities of what of some our kababayans facing right now.

well typical Filipina sometime that made them unique having a CRAB MENTALITY attitude..:NoNo::doh
amazing how you read my mind katherine I was wondering if you have telepathic talent:yikes:I was thinking exactly the same while I was working this morning It reminded me of my Favourite teacher in Sociology Subject in College.I remembered what exactly she said about filipinos. the "Crab Mentality" thing instead of helping each other for the way to success we`re pulling each other down its sad but true.we are exactly in same color, race.and country we have been and yet we are ruining each other. Its ashame its called Filipinouk forum by its name we suppose to reunite our powers as one and help one another.same as other member said its suppose to be a friendly forum and yet here mga pilipina pa naman nagbabangayan, nagsisiraanif you have known somebody who is less luckier than you or perhaps you yourself married a handsome and younger bloke then consider yourself lucky not unless if you are arguing, fighting each day.I myself Praise God I have caught a Good man.God indeed answered my prayer I used to remember before praying to God to marry a man and ask whatever the race and age and indeed he gave him to me.I am thankful and blessed. He is the man for me and I am to him:xxgrinning--00xx3:.Who cares about young men when they`re irresponsible pwera lang sa hindi like sis Kimmi said she admire her husband more than anything.and mature husband know how to handle our tantrums:yikes::Cuckoo: whatever other situation may look like thats their life and its none of our business.Yan nga ang problema natin mga pinoy masyadong pakialamira at tsismosa sa buhay ng iba, dunno how can or who can change us.But hopefully someday somehow we can to make the earth a better place to live in. :Hellooo::Hellooo::Hellooo:

Hey guys, don't get me wrong here
Hello Im new here but just caught up by your statement here. You wonder why some Filipino's marry an older guys than their parents ,just to be out of the country,do u believe its love"
In my humble opinion it could be for many reasons. Many people-men and women go to different countries just to be get out from the county. if you see and put your eyes on the old man, you will really can ask why one person marry to this man and not to young one? But if you look at the country Philippines and its economic condition, you can find out there are many ways of getting out from Philippines to go other countries. And now, OFW to different countries will exist to your consideration.
People who's living condition is not fair for their hardwork always look for a better life of their family and for someone they love. They will not really leaving philippines, but just out for this country with the intention of coming back in the future bringing back their hope which in the future would be realized and materialized.
So why we asked if marrying to an older man is just a way to get out from the Philippines? We are hurting somebody and we are degrading those general people who really have pure intentions.
If one marries older men, that happens to Philippines as well, and i could see no wrong on that. One does not need to depend one's opinion or what countries tradition to whom she or he would wish to marry. The fact that his decision was important for him and gives him faith that it makes her/his life better and comfortable with happiness that is more than marrying younger guys in the Philippines.;)

Filipinas are known to be a bread winner.I agree that most of us go working abroad for our family.I myself consider it right after finishing my course I have decided to work abroad to help my parents supporting my two siblings in college in that way I could repay Their kindess to me when sending me to a very high standard college in our city.My mum didnt wanted me to go working abroad but I insist and Blackmailing her that if she wouldnt let me I would run away and work abroad still and she couldnt do anything about it but agreed for my decision. She was so supported and kind that I will do anything for them. And then while I was abroad I met my beloved :)thats how it started.so we cant blame filipinas if they want to go abroad and as well face the fact that some of filipinas using foreigner really just to come out the country but they`re not harming you or me so let them decide what they want to do and thats their life anyway not ours same as other member said stop poking your nose to others.Mind your own business.I also thought before that life abroad is harmonious and yet as the saying goes Not all that Glitters is Gold we thought that we earn a lot abroad life is precious but we didnt know that lifestyle here is so expensive as well.Being in U.K is better off coz of child benefits and hospitalization thats the advantageous. In philippines we have cheap labour but we have very cheap lifestyle and the disadvantage side is that we havent got free hospitalization in general unlike here, so wherever you go theres disadvantage and advantage side:dohso which one you pick.about me am settled now here with my hubby.wherever the hubby goes the wife should be with him:xxgrinning--00xx3:

I thought that issue has been resolved, if you read carefully Mrs. JMajor`s post she used the word "SOME" and that does not mean in general.
And itS not intended to insult anybody if you take it as a critisism then ask yourself. If you are not guilty no offense, right.?
If someone has a clean motive no need to explain to everyone why you married to an old man like the other members here said if you are happy with it you will not take Mrs. JMajor`s post negatively.
Come on Ladies, stop sulking there. Start the year right, like me and Penny did , we started the year laughing out loud. hahahhaha right Penny?

one thing I've noticed with filipina's they can get offended or upset easily on here, sometimes things are taken the wrong way, misunderstood or written the wrong way.. just forget it and move on.. look at me and scouser Keith, always insulting each other at any chance were given, and were Bessie mates :o)
so peace and stop this b4 it goes too far, not many on here have actually meet anyone else on here, so people don't know you, so don't take it to heart if someone who doesn't know you says something that upsets you, i'm sure they didn't mean to, were not kids on here, all over 21 i hope :o)

Just a view point from a Whitey but many White ladies brought up in the UK have far much older Husbands/boyfriends.
From the little I know and again like others have written I know not everyone is the same.
Many Filipinas seem to have to grow up at a faster pace than many Western ladies do. Far more looking after younger siblings and taking on responsibilty. This also happens in an area of British society where poorer families in the UK particulalry Girls have to take on more responsibilty at a young age. I have seen many of these girls have relationships with far older men. Not always but quite a few do from my experience.
So some of these ladies however young have far more experience and maturity that prehaps a young pup like me is to immature.
My Wife cant belive how sophiscated ladies of her own age at work in some ways some ways seem so imature, even friends who are young filipinas brought up here. But she seems to find a common bond with those who have seen more of life. For example those who have come from abroad and have experienced life in a tougher enviroment. Many of whom have older than typical partners
For example my Wife was talking to a lady (40's) than her but not so old who was Born in the UK but due to her marriage spent a long time in a latin american country, where here kids were rasied, she now has young grandchildren raised in the UK who she was shocked in how they had a tantrum becasue they didn't like the present she gave them. The older ladies (60's) understood why she was shocked as did my Wife, while the younger ones didn't get it due to never having it tough.
Many of the older western members will remeber a time when life in the West was far more like Phill, no not morals and outlook although that has a big part to play i think. But also in the fact when life was simpler and harder.
Im sure there are cases of Women and Men looking for an older partner for other reasons. But I do think a big part is due to them having a lot in common.
