So she was only a girlfriend, but you already had a baby, great !! CONGRATULATION Bert,WHY NOT MARRY HER AND APPLY SPOUSE DIRECTLY ? OR IF YOU BOTH LIKE TO MARRY IN THE UK, THEN USE FIANCEE VISA, HMMM I WONDER IF THE BABY IS ANOTHER STORY :Erm:

You visited in December, and five weeks later you've become a father? ... or do you mean that you will become a father?
In short, three options for a visa:
1) Vistor visa - allows her to visit UK for up to six months, after which time she will have to leave again. Cost £65. Will only be granted if there is strong evidence to show that she will leave UK before the visa expires.
2) Fiancee visa - allows her to visit UK in order to marry within six months. Cost is £515, with a reasonable chance of success if you can prove the relationship and marriage plans. If the marriage does not take place, she will have to leave again (or make a very strong case to extend her visit). If the marriage does take place, she will have to apply for another kind of visa (FLR).
3) Spouse Visa - Having married abroad, this allows her to stay in UK for up to 27 months, at which time she will have to apply for another kind of visa (ILR). Cost is £515 with a very good chance of success, provided that you can prove that the marriage has taken place and is genuine.
In all cases, she (or, more likely, you, as her sponsor) will have to show that she will not require any public funds in order to support herself in UK, and that there is suitable accommodation for her.
Having a child will make things a little more complicated and expensive. If she is 'only' pregnant, then it is probably easier to arrange all of this before the baby arrives.

VERY WELL SAID!!!! :xxgrinning--00xx3::xxgrinning--00xx3:
yeah, when it comes to the pregnancy situation... you will not declare it anyway in your application since it will not yet fall in the category: ANY DEPENDENTS? KIDS? so, when she is here before she gives birth, you can register your gf in the NHS and also lots of benefits when they are here...
NHS: Free dental and prescriptions for 1 year, hospitalization...
You can also claim Child Tax Credits
The child will be a British Citizen by birth...
Congratulations!

Remittances:
It depends in what area she is living... are they renting the place or owned? parents working? she working?
Manila? outside Manila?
also i think, Php5,000-PhP10,000 is more than enough to feed her and the whole family...

Zobel, 10k is not enough now. All the prices went up! Everything's expensive! :Brick: I have a very simple life and i usually eat in my parents' house to save (kuripot to! :D). Bills alone for electric, phone and internet is 5k. 5k is not enough for groceries! :bigcry: And I live in the province too and not renting.

Ah, so you've not seen her since January 2008? I guess we all assumed you meant this January! That would explain the baby being four months old now.
But I'm still confused ... your baby is now four months old and she's only just told you?

It's puzzling why you just learnt about the baby this january. :Erm: Didn't you keep in touch after you left, Sir?
Is it true that the cost of DNA testing is P100k, guys?

Before even considering sending money, I would wait for the test results and maybe take a wee trip overthere to check things out for myself.....:NoNo:

welcome and congrats!
better send the baby some money for milk and diapers. just do the DNA test immediately. if it's not ur baby and u have sent some money, just think that u have help the mother and so as the baby. and if it's ur baby and u haven't send her money u'll regret it... the baby might starve for milk if the mother is not working, and u wouldn't want that if it's ur flesh and blood, right? though i'm sure the mother is taking care of him/her well.
been there and that.. so i just know how hard it is to be a single parent.
and if u met the baby u will know if he/she is ur child. we call it 'lukso ng dugo' :)
cheers!

Hi bert why not ask your partner if she put your name on your sons birth certificate.
I think your "son" is not entitled to get a british passport because you're not married to his mother. I'm not quite sure on this but I suggest you visit the British EMbassy and Home Office websites for your queries.

even better ask her to scan the birth cert and email it to you.
the British embassy might ask you for dna evidence that its your son if there are any suspicious circumstances.
me thinks ladyj you could be slightly wrong as If you were born before 1 July 2006 you may not qualify if your parents were not married at the time of your birth.

I agree with Joebloggs, our daughter was born October'2006 and we had no problem getting her a British passport, all we needed was my name on the NSO birth certificate, it was really easy, we got her British passport and British birth certificate within a week of applying. As for not being sure if the child is yours or not, most mixed babies have quite white conflections, we have experienced a guy paying all the hospital bills for the delivery of a child that was pure Filipino $$$$! :doh:doh:doh
