Fiancee visa application forms lodged today at VFS. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Pleasant staff, and no problems (apart from omitting her mother's birthday,
which took 2 phone calls to establish ! , and unsure which documents were
originals & which were photocopies).
..... so, day one and counting .....

Shayla...
Yes, I've been following the thread..... and feel for you.
It's amazing that they are centering all visa applications for the whole
regional area in Manila, and it's already beyond their capacity to provide a timely service just for the Philippines !

Hi Blue,
Do you think if I'm living in Metro Manila the visa result will be quicker?

Hi Blue,
Do you think if I'm living in Metro Manila the visa result will be quicker?
there's no difference.:NoNo:
It base on applicants situation and supporting documents and depends if the embassy is busy or not. Some applicants received their result less or more than the time limit of visa processing.

... Sorry, I didn't make myself clear ...
... as posted some days ago by another user...
The UK Border Agency has announced that the British Embassy in Manila will be the new regional hub for visa processing starting January 2009.
The Manila post will handle UK visa applications for Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea. Other regional offices may also submit its visa applications for processing later this year.
... so proximity to Manila means nothing.
Take care

Thanks LadyJ,
I think something is unlikely why it took long time. It's not fair I think to me lol.
Anyway I have no choice here so all I can do is to sit and wait here..
Wish me luck :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hello Blue,

I would think that you are affected by this, maybe it is the reason why you are still waiting. Manila started dealing with the other nations visa applications in January - so maybe we are all affected by this new strategy - maybe all applications start getting longer now. :NoNo::NoNo:
Praise, take this, the fact that one week was a Christmas week, as reasons why you are still waiting. It won't be long now. I know you are maybe tired of hearing it, but it will not be long now. Good luck always.
When we applied, I was hopeful to hear in 8 weeks, now I am expecting a 13 week wait.

Hello Ady,
It's bad like waiting for almost 3 months :cwm24:...It's stressful and tiring.. Now I have doubts why mine is taking so long and some people here who applied last Nov 27,2008 and they don't have any problem about waiting :)..
Hmmmm..I don't mind waiting though as long as it's granted in the end :xxgrinning--00xx3:..
:Erm::Erm::Erm: Am I wishing???...Well I'm trying to build my hope because who knows they will grant me because of my daughter and they will just ignore my age...:):):)..hehe
Ady I bet your wife will get her visa earlier than me lol :D but good luck to yous as well...
Cheers!

Hello Joe,
Probably with my age that's why it's taking long time for the result but do you think they will refuse me knowing that my daughter is a British Citizen? :Erm::Erm::Erm:..
How about this, do I have the chance to get a positive result???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

In the meeting with the British Consul, today, she acknowledged that settlement visas are currently taking up to four months to be processed. Despite taking on additional staff, the load imposed by processing visas from other Asian countries is slowing things down.

The clock has STOPPED TICKING
At precisely 4 weeks & 3 days
... or for the more "metric" or "decimal" minded of you out there
31 days
Next stop, CFO in Davao
Then scouring the internet for the cheapest flight option.
Guys/girls (esp Shayla), don't give up hope.
It'll happen.
Just believe.

Visa doesn't "kick-in" until 15 April..... the research I did indicated 8 weeks as the "mean" period,
so we pitched for a date 8 weeks' forward of the application.
But it gives us time to organise her affairs, close up loose ends, and hopefully get a cheaper ticket.
Yes, she's travelling on her own. but have already told her not to use the outside comfort room !

And her carrier/cabin bag should always be next to her whilst at the airport... some folks might just slip something inside the bag without her knowing it...
Also, always protect the passport, someone might nick it...
Good luck!
