I did it, I had a choice between 7 of clubs, 8 of diamonds, 6 of hearts, 8 of clubs, 7 of diamonds, and 6 of spades.

I chose 6 of hearts!:)

When I clicked on "step two" 6 of hearts certainly was missing!

but then ALL of the previous cards were missing!:doh

I think the reason the trick works is because we "assume" it isn't that obvious, we overlook the obvious, I've always been fascinated with magic tricks. The truth is there's no magic, only illusions..very cleverly done sometimes...some magicians prefer to be known as "illusionist's":)
