When you list it all like that, any newbies who have only just got involved with a Filipina and are still at the internet chatting stage for instance, might well be put off. :yikes::yikes::yikes: But I still think it's a case of he who dares wins.... in the end :xxgrinning--00xx3::xxgrinning--00xx3::xxgrinning--00xx3:

£60 ??? It's only £20 in our region and if you shop around, you can usually get it at £18 or £19 if you block book 10 or more lessons.

£60 per hour sounds very high for a normal driving lesson.

Though depending on the area it could be £60 for a 2 hour lesson which I know some instructors recommend nowadays.

it was £22 per hour for my driving lesson then less £1 per hour if block booking.

Dont go cheaper than £20 though or private instructor because some people said sometimes they tell you to do more lessons even though you dont need it.

I used go-red.co.uk and I passed my driving test for the first time.

Hiya!

It is indeed alot of money to get your love ones here in UK and I dont think its fair to the husbands to shoulder all the expense, the ladies should take the initiative to get a job once they are here in UK and share the responsibilities. Doesnt have to be 50/50 but at least help your husbands in paying all those fees. Specially now that we have 3 little children, I insist on paying for most of the things/shopping needed by our children since I get the child benefits and work part time.. only my opinion anyway.

Btw...citizenship/oath taking are free for group ceremonies however if you want a private one they charge £60.

:)

And yes, thank you for letting us know that Oath taking is free whoohooo...

It actually costs £80, but it is included when you apply for citizenship (currently £575 for the application fee and £80 for the group ceremony, making £655 in total).

If they refuse you citizenship or you withdraw your application they actually refund you the £80 (they keep though the £575....).

Geraldine
7th March 2009, 22:09
You are right Darren...just remembered the £60 was an additional charge if you can not make it on those group ceremony dates available bec I reckon applicants are given 2months to have their citizenship ceremony once they received the invitation letter otherwise their application will be invalid.

If you're planning to file an application anytime soon then take note!

The Home Office will increase fees for citizenship and visas applications on 6 April 2009. Applicants seeking citizenship by naturalisation or permanent residency through an indefinite leave to remain visa will have to pay up to 15% more.

Fees are unlikely to come down any time soon. If you are able to submit your application on or before the 5 April 2009 then you’ll save money

How about JSA allowance of 60£/week? After a month I passed my ILR, I visited Jobcentreplus and asked if I am qualified for JSA in case I loose my job:D. They asked some questions how much I earned in my 2 years stay etc. I'll be qualified from January onward in case I loose my job.:BouncyHappy:

I asked my hubby if I can still receive my JSA even I'm on my holidays to Philippines but he said NO, you need to sign every forth night:Brick:

Not sure JSA really ought to be on this list as you should only attempt to claim JSA in your own right once you've got ILR and you've earned enough.

JSA is 'job seekers allowance' so of course you can't usually claim it whilst you're not in the country and available for work.

Yes you're right Darren. One of the requirements is if you earned about 4500£ + in the past 2 years.
Anyway I'm still working hard, striving hard to earn more and not to claim a little:xxgrinning--00xx3:
