biometric enrolment/ identity cards

good day..

we were granted a leave to remain visa last 02 march '09..i'm a bit confused :cwm12:if we still need to apply or enrol for biometric/ identity cards. we are planning to take a 2 month holiday this coming May and immigration officers might ask for this document in the airport..My question is :Erm: do we still need to have an identity cards before taking a holiday and enrol for biometrics? or the visa/sticker that was stamped in our passports is already enough as a proof or evidence that we are still eligible to return back to UK after the holiday..

in my experience, they dont ask me for any identity card or biometrics..I think it will only be available to applicant in 2010??not so sure though.
