A good friend of mine in Gensan received details of an add looking for Filipinos to work on a yacht. He called to ask me if he should send the 750 pounds requested to be sent along with the CV and application form.

It's so obviously a fake in my opinion. Just showing you this example so you can advise yours to be wary of anything that requires money upfront.

Well I have encountered a Filipina who sent money to Nigeria for something less sophisticated than that. Has anyone ever received e-mails from Russian women asking for money to buy wood in winter to keep warm? I love those.... :icon_lol:

I personally got lots of those email job offers- SCAMS!!!!!!!!!!!.. Please advice your friends and her/his friends to be really careful. SCAMS in the Phils proliferate - in so many forms, advertisements and recruitment for jobs right at the neighborhood are questionable.

I got similar emails as well.. but I asked for additional proof.. asked for the address, phone, etc. and told them that I will have my friend in London checked their office... I didn't get another email after... LOL...

There's a feature on BBC about those scams... either that or CNN... found out that the originator of the job offer he investigated came from Nigeria. But at that time, they can't prosecute as there are no existing laws then.
