I have enjoyed some great times in Negros... Rode with my cycle club from Cebu to Bacolor for Mascara fest a few years ago, and had to visit there frequently to get my Harley worked on by a German guy in Bayawan. The ride from Dumaguette to Bayawan is outsanding, apparently the hiway (110km or so) had just been finished by China Road some 6 or 7 years ago. Dumaguette is nice, the so called waterfront has some nice old style restaurants, cafes, discos' etc right on the bay looking out at the pier where a Supercat plies from D'gtte to Cebu daily unless it has changed. Coco Amigo's is a nice place to hang out and watch the world go by. Good margarita's, decent mex food, and friendly staff. Just watch out for Dodong Teves crew - his kids are maniacs and feel like they own the place - well which they do since they are the largest land holders in Negros. Old world cane plantation dating back to the Spaniards.

Mabini is nice - its up in the mountains, and there is a really secluded resort up there i can't remember the name but it's a lot cooler climate wise and they have an excellent chef who does some great local cuisine.

From Cebu City, you can take a supercat to D'gtte, or if you want to be adventurous, cross the transnational hiway from Cebu City (it goes up from Lahug) its a decent road and offers great views. There is a really good italian restuarant about 1/3 of the way up called La Tegola that will not dissapoint. From there, you can go to the pier and take a boat to San Carlos, they have several ferries per day, some are RORO if u r taking your car. From San Carlos to Dumaguette, is about a 3-4 hr drive. Or you could turn right and go to Bacolod.

Negros is a great place... hope you can enjoy it !

Hi Steve here involved with a lady from Negros Orriental and hoping to visit later this year.

Hello to you too, Steve. Noticed you'd already posted a thread elsewhere on the forum. So, a somewhat belated welcome from a fellow 'Senior' and good luck for your proposed sojourn to the Pinas.
