The England team were talking about winning the world cup. What nonsence! Looks like they are the first ones to leave the competition. I have to say I was completely disgusted with their performance. Do I forgive them? Based on all my comments under forgiveness topic, I guess I best lol. I am ever the optimist, hopefully they will pick themselves up. So now they just HAVE to beat Pakistan on Sunday or they are out of the World cup. For those who are not into cricket, England's loss to Holland is like Man Utd losing to a non league side.

The way the England team have been recently though, is it really that much of a surprise, the whole team has been in a state of flux like Brown's government for months now, with no real leadership.

At least we won a silver medal in rollerskating hockey in France!!!

typical England fans.... moaning as soon as England lose... football or cricket its always the same. then when England do well the St. George flags start to come out !!

I'm not English but I do watch England play all over the world, OK so they lost to a minor counties level side... I loved it, it was a great match. Holland went for it, hit out and ran for everything and got there deservedly... with some luck. They have some good players, guys that have played at senior level here and in New Zealand, at least one that is currently playing for Essex. I guess after that performance 1 or 2 might get trials with a senior county.

Just enjoy the games

I wasn't talking about countries.... it was about individuals... to me some English fans and the media are very fickle.

One minute they are moaning about how crap they are... they win something and then its St. George's flags everywhere.

You obviously don't follow the Brazillian, Spanish, Italian, etc football news then :cwm24: .....our supporters and media are very mellow and kind compared to them!

All of us who criticised England's performance against Holland should give credit where credit is due. The England team DID pick themselves up after that humiliating defeat and performed brilliantly to beat Pakistan convincingly. England for the cup now? I doubt it! But at least we should now give a better account of ourself in the next stage of the competition (hopefully)

True John. Nothing can take away the embarrassment of the defeat against the Dutch - but they did rally and scored a great victory. Well done England - you HAD to do it and you did.

I'd prefer to day Pakistan handed the win to us. They made a lot of mistakes, as they are a young and an inexperienced side, similar to the Aussies. However, it makes a nice change the selectors putting in a few fresh faces, rather than the usual same old same old.

And if we can't win the Ashes this time round while the Aussies are weak :doh :Brick:

Hi WinTo win. I guess the test will be how Pakistan get on against Holland. If they thrash Holland it may be qan indicator that we have made a good improvement. If they also lose to Holland then maybe you are right. By my reckoning Pakistan will need to beat Holland by at least 25 runs to not be knocked out.

Well, Pakistan DID thrash The Netherlands. Now, it is up to us to prove ourselves against South Africa! :Erm:

England tend to end up in the most difficult groups in sport.

Remember when we beat Germany 5-1 in the qualifying groups for the football world cup. If we had of come 2nd in that group we would have had the same easy World cup groups and subsequent easy matches that Germany had. They got to the final - us, we got the winners (Brazil) early on.

Now the cricket we get, South Africa, India (the 2 favorites) and West Indies, compared to Pakistan who get Ireland, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Oh well!!!!!!! Let's be positive. Maybe we can beat West Indies (if there isn't a storm, ie gale force)

I did say we might beat West Indies as long as there is no storm. I was referring to Gayle, but I guess we did get beat by the weather.

Can anyone explain why the DL total came to only 80. I thought it takes into consideration the much shorter innings with advantage of 10 wickets over just 9 overs compared with 20 overs for England. I have seen this type of situation before where the total would be much higher. I expected at least 95 runs. If it was 95 we would have won having reduced WI to 5 wkts early on.
