Hi all,

to keep as brief as possible as this probably been asked 100 times. I want to bring my filipino girlfriend and her 2 children to the UK to live with me. So can anyone tell me what she needs to have and do and what do i need to do. Many thanks in advance Les

bring your g/f to the uk for how long ?

for a visit

a visit visa for upto 6 months (risky likely to be refused)


permanently

get married in the phils

or apply for a fiancée visa and get married in the uk

as for her kids, depends on their age, is the father mentioned on their birth cert?, where is the father, and something called 'sole responsibility'

Many thanks for the reply an sorry i had to ask but know immigration laws changing all the time so thought better to ask afresh. Anyway it gives me a starting point, the idea was to bring her permanantly and at some point we'd get married in UK, so will look at this fiance visa, presumably thats on immigration site. Will also check childrens birth certificates. Many thanks for prompt reply. Les

no probs, your right immigration laws do change, and will be later this year..

but as long as you have a place for her to live, savings and a job you shouldn't have a problem, thou for her kids it might not be so straight forward, depends on the answers to questions i asked ..

UK Fiancé

This UK visa allows a person to bring their fiancé to join them in the UK as long as they have settled status in the UK. Settled Status means that they are living here lawfully with no time limit on their stay. If you are returning to the United Kingdom to settle, a fiancé can also apply to join you at the same time.

Duration A UK fiancé-prospective marriage visa is issued for six months and is solely for the purpose to travel to the UK to get married. After marriage the applicant may apply to stay in the UK, at which time a two year period UK visa may be issued. After this time a person can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) as long as the marriage continues to stand.

Eligibility Criteria:
Age: People who wish to apply for the UK fiancé visa must be 16 years of age or over, and the partner with the settled status or who is returning to the UK to live permanently, must be 18 years of age or over.

Relationships: To qualify for a UK fiancé visa, partners must:

plan to marry within a reasonable time (usually six months);
plan to live together permanently after you are married;
have met each other;
have a place to reside for the applicant and any dependants to live until they are married without help from public funds;
be able to support any dependants without working or having to get help from public funds.

Additional Information Only after an applicant's UK fiancé-prospective marriage visa is changed over to a marriage visa are they able to start working and hold the same rights as their spouse who is present and settled in the UK.UK fiancé-prospective marriage visa applicants should marry within the six months from when the fiancé visa is issued.

you have to both be over 21 if your applying for a spouse visa, fiancée visa, or unmarried, same sex and civil partners visa's.

but if your a EEA national exercising your Treaty rights in the UK, then having to be over 21 doesn't apply to you if your applying for a family permit for your wife :D and also it doesn't apply to dependent visa's (e. g.student visa,tier 2)
