Hiyah!:Hellooo: I visit Reading in Berkshire every friday and there is definately a handful of Filipino's living there, I believe there is a Filipina on this forum that is living in Reading...I can't remember her user name though! Doh!:doh
A lot of our Nurses and Carers in Britain are Filipino's, so you'll find there are Filipino's everywhere really!
Reading is quite a nice place by the way...there are plenty of shops there and Reading has a big popular Rock festival once a year..(The Reading festival..)
Hope this helps!:)

Ahhahaha sorry po,...:cwm34:
I was so happy with her reply and was saying that I'm from Sta. Cruz because she said the she has worked here before.
I am expressing my so much happiness meeting a kabayan here who spoke the same dialect as mine, and knowing that we came from the same province:BouncyHappy:
I have fears in going there so my bf and i have decided to go there for a visit and will just decide later if will get married there and be relocated.
I was asking questions about her. about her work here before and her work there now. I also said that I am glad that she was able to adjust there easily, as thats what i am very much afraid of.
Hope you can share some views on how is life there in UK, specially the weather and the hot showers:icon_lol:
Thanks for you concern my friend... God Bless...!:cwm38:

Hi Tawi! Wow you have interpreted it well...! Thanks, you are really good., I enjoyed reading your posts it so informative and some so disappointing:Erm:
But it amazes me more that you knew our dialect. I find it hard to teach my bf with our dialect, he has learned some few lines anyway. Im glad also that you knew about PAIC, the investment promotion and tourism office of our municipality. Maybe you have made a research on that huhm...

there are lots of filipinos in reading. the town centre is just small and you can see students almost anywhere. there is also a filipino store along the "smelly alley" which offers a sari-sari store, remittance center and haircut for a small price of £7 only :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hi
I'm in Bracknell, which is about 12 miles from Reading. My fiancee isn't here yet, but we should be applying for a Visa in 2 or 3 weeks (hopefully, just waiting for divorce paperwork).
Any information about the area you need, I'm happy to provide. I lived in Reading for 8 years before moving to Bracknell.

Very, very surprised but Reading was recently voted the worst town in the UK to bring up children because of the high crime rate:Erm:East Dunbartonshire was voted the best place to raise a family :Erm:

As I mentioned, I lived tehre for a long time, with 2 young children, and never had any problems whatsoever. We moved before my kids started formal schooling though, so the schools may be different.

Crime is never as bad as they make it sound...I've travelled all over the south of Britain for more than ten years now, and the only crime I ever witnessed was a pushbike being stolen in Croydon!:cwm34:

From where is your fiancee? mine is from Tilehurst Reading. Have you meet a lot of Filipinos there? Are there any issues on racial discrimination? How do British people treat Filipinos? specially in workplaces? are the people there hospitable just like Filipinos?

My fiancee is in Batangas. She's NOT the one who knows Reading. We're hoping to get Visa applications in next month so hopefully she'll be here in October (fingers crossed).
I have met a few filipina's in Reading and Bracknell. There WAS a filipino festival in Bracknell for a couple of years running, but I didnt go - it was before I met my finacee and I didnt have a significant interest at the time, now I wish I had.
People are generally hospitable. It helps to not be too shy yourself though. I find a lot of people who complain about 'inhospitable' workmates that never talkk to them havent made any effort themselves so their colleagues think the same of them.
Good luck :)
