Hello again people,

Todays question....:doh ?

Can you please advise me on the "Hand to Head" greeting used in Phil.... I will meet my girlfriend and her parents for the first time in Dec.. I know that I dont have to do this "H to H" greeting with my lady but how do I go about it with her folks ? When I take their hand :
Do I put the back of their hand to my forehead or the palm ?
Do I do this as soon as we meet ?
Do I take her mothers hand first or fathers or either ?
Is it just her parents / Grandparents I do this with ?
And finally , how long do I hold it there ? as I am quite fond of a cigarette and need my hands free at some point..

Many thanks Kerrien XXX

Advice. GIVE UP SMOKING. I'm sure your wife to-be will be very happy with the fact the love of her life is not only trying to commit slow suicide, but will also be forcing increased chance on an early death to her. That's very kind of you, maybe sitting in a sealed car with a pipe from the exhaust will be quicker for both of you, the results are the same. Time to stop being selfish methinks, and think of others.

:omg: WIFE !!!!!.......... Dont think I mentioned I wanted one of these !!... A mate , maybe if all seems ok , but WIFE:NoNo: ...

Smoking..... Mmmmm , yep its a really bad habbit but one that I dont inflict on others ( hence my 3 very healthy kids ). Its a thing I only do outside away from people. I live alone and dont even smoke inside my own house..I also pay a vast amount of private medical insurance so my bad habbit wont be a burden on the NHS when it finally kills me.......
I tried the hosepipe / car exhaust trick once before but didnt like it , as the hosepipes only come untipped and I found it far too strong for my taste..

Still , you are correct , its a stinking habbit and it does kill people..but thankgoodness it cures "kippers"..

And on that note " cough Cough" ..I will depart this site forever , as I dont think there is anyroom here for light hearted chit chat... far too serious for me.

Thanks for the advice during my short stay..

Paalam , Kerrien XXX

dont worry about winx2.. he has a small :icon_tonguew:

in my experience, the hand bless thing is just amongst small kids, and grandparents. its not done within the family or with friends..

Anyway, its fairly obvious when a hand is offered to you. just take hold of it & place the back against your forhead...:doh (hehe wrong way round).

getting weed is quite easy too :Hellooo:if you're into that kind of thing.:Rasp:

Dont beat yourself up about it..
If only a small amount of the taxes paid by smokers were used to treat so called smoking related illnesses they would all be in private air con rooms with two full time nurses a piece.
What a way to go!

hand on head-- its called "Mano" here, like kissing the hands of the elders.. but not kissing anymore just holding the right hand of the elder and placing it on your forhead.. its the best sign of respect.. they will admire you..

i taught Jay how to make "mano" and yep he learned so well.. its a sign of humility, kindness. respect and gentleness. my mom & my lola and all others hehe were very happy of the kind act Jya had shown especially hes foreigner... but anyway.. just do it and youll get the respect from them also...
