hi sis Liza, am glad ure learning to drive now as well.:D I think ur friend is right u need to sort out ur insurance as much as possible..If u are learning to drive in ur hubby's car u have to ask his insurance if they will allow u to include with his insurance. You are not automatically insured sis unless hubby will talk and will inform them..
Goodluck sis..:)

Your husband is wrong.:NoNo: What happened if you hit someone's car? If this happened and you're not insured then you could be prosecute or fine.
Every driver must get their own or joint insurance even sharing one car, you could tell your husband to call his insurer and join you, its approx £5+ per month or more than that to add you to his insurance.
Have you got your Provisional d.licence?

how do you know what insurance her husband as,she maybe covered on it?
you can check what named drivers are on the insurance certificate, why not just ask him as your confused and get him to show you!

if your driving with an international license i'm pretty sure your husbands insurance will not cover you ..

Hi LadyJ....
I think her husband is correct.
If he names her on his insurance, she will be covered in the same way he will be covered.
If he is fully comprehensive, she will be also.
This means if she hits someone, the insurance will pay for the damage, but she will have to pay the excess amount in ££.
The bigger the excess amount, the less chance people will claim for smaller damage.
If she goes on her husband's insurance, she will not be able to build up her no-claims bonus, which is measured in percentage - 40%, 60% etc.
This is how I understand it, but she should always consult many different insurance companies and ask them to explain their offers.
I hope I am correct here and I hope it helps.

.
THis is what I was trying to say, cos this is what my husband exactly did to our insurance. Sorry for not making it clear.
The thing though,at the moment we don't know if her husband have told his insurance company to insured/include her to his insurance.

Its not always as simple as just adding her to his insurance. My company wouldnt insure Chryss on my car with a provisional licence.
So you must check and not assume.
After finding another insurance company we now have a higher excess.
Definately need to check.
