I'm shortly to become engaged to my sweetheart from Bicol.
I am a British citizen but I am working in India at the moment on a 2 year contract which is set to expire at end 2010, when I expect to return to UK.
I'm weighing things in my mind as to what the quickest and easiest way would be for us to be together in UK in 2011.
In terms of having the marriage in Phils, I am not sure whether I would be able to get the required certificate from UK stating I have never been married (as I am resident in india at the moment, would they issue it here?). If I have to wait until I get back to UK taking time of in a new job/role might not be that easy given the length of time needed in phils to complete the marriage.
I think the easiest thing would be to go down the fiancee visa route, but then again we would need to wait until I get back to UK to apply??
I haven't thought about her getting an India visa yet, but that might be an option in the interim?
ALthough it makes no difference to me, it probably will to the immigration depts that I have a decent paying job and no money worries whatsoever (quite lucky in these times!)
Any advice appreciated. Have read the forum, but nothing seems to fit my odd circumstances.
Thanks and good luck to all. When I fell in love, it never occurred to me there are all these hoops to jump through keeping people apart!
