Not heard about one of them before, though I am pretty certain that it doesn't mean your visa has been approved. The only Emmigration Clearance Certificate I can find whilst googling is one that the Philippines government issues to foreign visitors.
Who did you send it to in the UK? And did you pay money? Just wondered if you have been scammed....

i think this is a scam, only the embassy can give you entry clearance, and that would be from the embassy and stamped in your passport, after you've submitted a visa app and paid a fee.
im' sure they are trying to hook you, and will ask you for money soon,,, dont send anything..
what reason are you seeking entry clearance ? student visa. work permit ??

The only entry clearance that can get you into the UK is the one that is fixed inside your passport and is has been issued by the British Embassy in Manila. This would have been returned to you after you had submitted a visa application to them along with your passport if the visa application was successful.
I confidently expect that at some point you will be asked to make a payment of some kind (probably through western union) and you will be assured that this money will be returned to you when you eventually get to the UK. Don't fall for it, it's a scam!

i think the form you filled in was ima2, but unless you did the following you may well be getting scammed..
How To Apply
If you wish to apply for an entry clearance you should fill in form IM2A (and related forms if applicable) which you can get free of charge from the nearest British Mission offering an entry clearance service, or from our visa forms and leaflets page. You should check with the Mission whether or not they are able to process your category of application. If they cannot, they will advise you where to apply.
Your application form may be submitted by hand or by post together with:
* your passport;(2)
* two recent passport-sized photographs; and
* the entry clearance fee which is non-refundable.
Fees must be paid in local currency (ie the currency of the country in which the British Mission is located). You should not send cash through the post, but bank drafts, postal or money orders payable to the Mission may be enclosed.
The entry clearance officer may then be able to decide your application without further enquiries. However, you may have to attend an interview, and in addition may be asked for further documents.
so if you've sent the form to the uk, then i would be worried.becuase you should have done the above :cwm24:

:Hellooo: Welcome to the forum. Sorry to dampen your hopes but, as others have pointed out, only the British Embassy itself is authorised to grant Entry Clearance. I just hope and pray you have not been scammed.

I wonder if its not a visa application acknowledgment sent to the person and not the agency to confirm bona fide of teh name and address submitted.
It could be aprt o fthe new measires to prevernt bogus visa applications which gaina visa to "sell" later.....

? 1. What kind of visa are you applying for? Student Visa, Work Visa, Visit (Tourist) Visa etc.
? 2. Did you submit your passport as part of the application process.
If this was legitmate application with an agency acting on your behalf, you would need to submit your passport and the only way you would know that you had been issued a visa to enter the UK, is when your passport was returned to you with the entry clearance visa sticker fixed in your passport.
I still think that this is a scam and that eventually you will be asked for money.

This is obviously a scam and you will be asked for money at some point. At that point you may feel that you are so close to coming to the UK that you may well pay up as many others before you have done, especially when they tell you that this money will be re-imbursed once you get to the UK
As Darren says, the UK will not issue a visa for the kind of jobs you describe. Even nurses can't get visas these days unless they are highly experienced and specialist in some way. Caregivers are no longer given visas either. The only visas issued for work purposes are for highly skilled jobs for which there is a shortage of suitable applicants in the UK and these particular kinds of jobs are on a list provided by the British government. If you ever do recieve a genuine working visa, it will be fixed inside your passport, it does not arrive in the form of a letter. The British Embassy doesn't even inform you if your visa application has been successful, they merely return your application pack with the visa slip fixed in your passport, or a letter explaining why you have been refused a visa and details of your right of appeal.
Iain.
