any advice in applying for settlement visa for a child (7 years old)..its my kid from my sigle life:), though in her birth cetificate the father omitted so i think its no problem on that, but im married to englishman whose now in UK working.. and hopefully soon we apply for spouse visa..is it possible to apply it togther with my visa..though we got our own kids ages 1 and 4..which is if am correct entitle to be british by descent..:) no problem on that

I think you need to apply a separate application form for your child and of course a separate fee as well:doh but your 2 kids from your british husband are free of charges (visa matter) as far as I know they are entitled to have British passport, so a bit expensive but it's worth it because you're coming together and complete family:xxgrinning--00xx3:

hello Stuana:) thnak you for the reply..are your kids are from your english husband if so i assume you get there english passort..as they are british by descent..
or do you mean they are not british by descent..so it must be a settlement visa..
and what are the requrements they need in applying this..i hope you could give me some as you got through on it and my congartulate your sucees on getting they visa as well..any advice would be really great..:ARsurrender:

Kids from my ex-Fil. partner.Since he had his acknowledgement on my kids birth certificate,I supplied their visa application with his letter of consent.
As long as you have proof that you have the sole custody of your child,you'll be fine.
We applied March 5,'09 and granted May 13,'09.We were lucky enough we didn't wait that long.
Anyway,from where are you?Hope you'll update us of your application.

not just legal custody, but also you must show you have 'sole responsibility' - you could have custody of your child, but not 'sole responsibility', for example you could have custody of the child from your ex-partner, but say, if you worked in another city or country and the child was looked after by a relative or father, then the embassy could say you don't have 'sole responsibility' for the child.

sole responsibility means that the sponsoring parent has had and still has the ultimate responsibility for the major decisions relating to the child’s upbringing and provides the child with the majority of the financial and emotional support it requires. The sponsoring parent must show that he or she has had, and continues to have, care and control of the child.

i think they don't take biometrics for children under 5, but they must appear to have their photo taken. thou i could be wrong ?

yes i was right.

Children who are five years old or over, will likewise need to have their fingers scanned and photo taken. If your children are between five and sixteen years of age, a responsible adult must accompany them while their finger scans are taken. Children who are under five years old are not required to have their finger scanned therefore they do not have to appear in person to submit their application.

Your biometric data will be kept at the UK embassy for ten years from the date that it was taken. After ten years, your data will be destroyed.

but i've read somewhere else children under 5 need thier pic taking ,,, better call the embassy !

Thanks Joe i will get my wife to call the embassy to see if she will be required to take our son now 2 years old. As you know we are applying for bens passport in 2 weeks.

am from davao city..can i ask what are the reqiurement you have supplie fo your kids settlement visa..my ex partne didnt acknowledge on her birt cert s think no poblem on that..though my 2 kids from english husband i could apply for english passort..if am correct..:) so its all good:)

how about from your english husband do we need some paper work from him as well that he can support his step daughther aside from own kids..:)

You need the letter of consent if his name is actually on the birth certificate!
