Isn't it about time Uefa dealt with serial former Manc diver Ronaldo ? Talk about closing the gate after the horse has bolted...........

I am not that much of a football fan but having watched the game I am delighted that Edwardo has been penalised. I sort of wished at the time that he would have explained to the Ref that it was not a penalty, but then, as I said, I am not a fan and thus still think football is a game, to played fairly, Stupid me !!!

Rooney dived in the Arsenal game, the goalie only brushed, Rooney knew what was going to happen, and instead of jumping, continued to run into him. This is part of the normal game now, all teams do it.

In ye olde days, players like Owen would just run at the defence, jump the goalie, and score. You seldom see that now.

If you see a human infront of you, natural instinct is to jump, you have to teach yourself to cheat.

Drogba however never cheats, as he's always on the floor anyway :D

I think you're getting your terms a little confused

Eboue dived in the game, no contact and threw himself to the ground

Almunia hit Rooneys knee, regardless of Rooneys position it was a foul, and a very, very silly thing for Almunia to do

So its quite simple really, contact = penalty, no contact = dive :D

If you watch the replay, Rooney ran into the goalie, he had plenty of time to jump.

I've never figured out why they give penalties when the ball is moving away from goal so obviosuly it is not a scoring chance, as penalties are meant to replace the scoring chance lost!!

Just beacause something has always been that way does not mean it is right nor fair, the penalty area should be smaller, and more of a V-Shaper to take into account the angles.

Cheating Shrek was into his dive before any contact with the keeper. It is as clear as daylight here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0UdpLNiD-o

Ferguson backs the ban

Of course it will be the opposite reaction when, hopefully, Rooney gets a dose of the same medicine
