Anyone had an ILR visa approved recently and, if so , how long were u waiting? My wife and I are in the uk (got married in UK in July 2007 and have stayed in the UK since that date) and she applied for ILR by post on July 10th and are still waiting.

well when I phoned them up they said after 14 weeks from the date you posted then you can follow up. I phoned them up before 14 weeks as my brother died on Boxing day 0f 2008 I wanted to go home but was told no refund and if I apply again another fee. It was painful but rules need to be followed , death is not an excuse for them.

Thanks joebloggs.

Thanks for the replies everyone. We did try to arrange a same day appt but couldnt get one at any of the centres anywhere in the uk for 6 weeks which took us beyond her visa expiry date. I guess we'll just need to wait. We're booked to go to mexico on December 5th and would need to cancel at least 8 weeks before we leave to avoid paying hefty cancellation charges and 8 weeks is October 10th so we're starting to get a bit worried

Thanks folks
We will, of course, still use the forum and hopefully now be able to pass on advice to people who are going thru the same process.
And as well as that, it's citizenship next so no doubt we'll need some help on that too !!
