Hi guys,

I just want to share my experience to you all, for those who wants to delay their travel in UK (on Spouse visa).

I phoned the British embassy and made enquiries, I was asked to fax a letter stating my reason for delaying my travel.

After 2 days I've got a call from them asking me to go to British Embassy in McKinley and they told me they need to ammend my visa( got it the same day! :)). The validity of my previous visa was 16/09/2009- 16/12/2011 now that it's ammended the validity is 05/12/2009-05/03/2012! Great isn't it!!?
Problem solved! :) Hope this will help!

If you put intended date of travel is the 1st of October I don't see there being a problem, no one expected the Embassy to process the visa's so quickly, so they have to take that into consideration.

Don't like the previous date on that one. She has to go back on 16/12/2011. That would suck. Christmas alone. Next one you can show her the Scottish Hogmanany :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hi Florge, In my case it is possible. Try and contact the Embassy. I guess the reason why they ammended my visa is because I will delay my travel for 3 months!

Funny as it may seem, before plenty of applicants were hoping and praying to have their visas approved so the soonest they can fly, now people are asking to delay it :Erm: hehe :D :omg:

But think it's cool hehe :xxgrinning--00xx3::D

Hi Jay&Zobel! The reason why I can't travel immidiately is because I am waiting for my husband to get off from the ship. And I got loads of stuff to sell and our car! :doh :cwm24: So at the moment am stuck here!!!:Brick:

Awww, no worries... I was just amazed about how visas are being processed so quickly unlike the previous years.

TAKE CARE :xxgrinning--00xx3:

hi everyone,

So does that mean the visa starts on the day it gets issued? I thought it would start when you enter the UK?
If its already started, then i need to get a move on and book flights for my fiancee:Erm:

Yes you will need to get a move on, you have only 6 months from the day the visa was issued, to come to the UK and get married. As long as you get here, get married and get your application for FLR sent within the 6 month period you'll be OK.

ahhhhh, ok, thank you very much.

What if we have applied but we dont have the next visa though in time before the 6 months runs out, will they expect her to go back to the philippines?

Its all very confusing for us what the rules are, our wedding is in january 29th, about 3 1/2 months into the 6 month visa.

That is not a problem - as long as you've applied for your next visa before your previous one runs out you'll be ok.

Hi scottishbride. Remember me, filipina_owl? Well my visa is valid from sept 16 2009 and i will be travelling to UK on november 14 with my husband. In the application form, i wrote that i wish to travel to uk on december 8, 2009. So since the visa was approved too soon, it was a great advantage as i am pregnant. But the reason for the delay of my travel is that, i work in the government. I had to apply a leave of absence from the agency i work for and this will be submitted to DILG office so that i will be issued an authority to travel outside philippines and the application should be filed 1 month before the scheduled departure. I have already submitted my leave application so im expecting that i will get my authority to travel by first week of november since i just filed my leave application this month of october due to many requirements.

Do i still need to call the embassy to have my visa amended? Will this not cause me problems in the future in case i dont have my visa amended? Hope to get some words from any guys in the forum.

Hi Filipina owl, sorry for the late reply. I think you need to call the British Embassy. I already posted the tel. numbers  from my previous thread. It is possible to ammend your visa. You will need to fax a letter stating the reason for delaying your travel. Goodluck!
