Hello guys,
I'm a Filipino Engineer (FPGA, Industrial Research, ASIC, etc) currently working for 2 years here in Japan. I'm planning to either work or study in UK in the near future. Also my sister already lives in Leicestershire.
Since obtaining a visa would be my main concern for now, maybe you guys can help me by introducing me to job sites/links for companies that offer visa sponsorhip (employment opportunities not only for the locals).
Thanks and regards,
ScIoN

Welcome to the forum.
If you meet the requirements for a tier 1 work visa (in terms of qualifications, salary, funds, etc) then it be reasonable simple for you to come to the UK and search for a job.
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/tier1/general/
If you don't then it's a lot more difficult as you need to find a company willing and able to sponsor you for a work permit for the job that they want to offer you. I don't think you'll find many (maybe none) companies willing to do this directly if you are not in the UK, so you need to find an agency in Japan or the Philippines that could help you. Don't though expect it to be easy as the jb market isn't great in the UK at the moment, especially for non-Europeans. I don't think many people on this forum will be able to help you as very few are here in the UK on work visas.

just to add Darren I worked part time in a restaurant as a waitress my friend is an Engineer from Romania, he dont need visa but he mentioned that its not easy to find the job that he wanted. Also two filipinas working in home care they got the job through an agency in Phils they paid 480,000.pesos just to get a one year visa to work , they took the chance and luckily when their visa nearly to expire they asked their employer to apply visa and they were issued 5 years work permit but I think no work permit now? Is it point based system this time?

:Hellooo: Welcome, Scion ... though, as Darren has implied, most of our members here, are inclined to be and/or have been people seeking guidance on visas for settlement as partners of UK citizens.

Hi Scion
Could you outline your background a bit more. Abbreviations you mention are not familiar to this country:Erm: But what kind of work did you do in Japan?
Once you tell me what kind of engineer you are I can give you some great job links. Offshore Engineer, Mechanical, Civil, take your pick. But in the meantime, I will just talk of some recruiting websites :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Here is your first port of call is a paper the Daily telegraph which will tell you about locations to work in. I wish this helps you
http://jobs.telegraph.co.uk/engineering-jobs/
Also to search UK wide you can use the search Engineering Jobs
http://www.engineeringjobs.co.uk/
This one is called KDC good for specialist engineering recruiting
http://www.kdcresource.com/
And Electus Recruitment Solutions is a technical recruiter as well
http://www.electusrecruitment.co.uk/
And this one seems obvious for the website address. The Engineerhttp://www.theengineer.co.uk/Jobs/Home.aspx
Due to the nature of your work, you will come under the governments new highly skilled TIER system. I am sure you have heard about it. It simply boils down to the amount of points you can get based on your experience and skills.
* Tier 1 – Highly skilled migrants, entrepreneurs, investors and graduates (replacing the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, the Entrepreneur and Investor Schemes and the International Graduates Scheme)
* Tier 2 – Skilled workers with a job offer (replacing the UK Work Permit)
* Tier 3 – Temporary, skilled workers to fill labour shortages
* Tier 4 – Students
* Tier 5 – Youth mobility and temporary workers entering the UK for working holidays
More about this is on this website here:

Good luck :)

These web sites are great if you are in the UK and have a Tier 1 work visa, but if not they are of limited use as you will be competing against applicants with UK work experience, that the employer can interview in person easily and who can start work straightaway without organising a work permit. You really would have to have an outstanding CV or for there to be no-one suitable applying from the UK for the employer to really consider your application.
