I haven't noticed much difference the way they both run, but then on quadcores with 4GB that's not really a surprise.

I'll be a nerd too :D
I really like W7 but as Keith says there isn't much difference in performance if you have reasonable RAM and good processors to start with.
My new works laptop is faster on Vista than my dual core Athlon on my desktop is on Windows 7.
Memory is the main thing the more the better and the 64 bit machines really fly once you add more than 4GB
All of the images on my desktop are my own copyright, they are all my pictures, I rather like the desktop themes feature that lets you build a picture
series :)

Fewer driver issues for 64 bit setups although some issues do still exist.
This version of Windows will be the stepping stone to 64 bit for many many people.
Interface improvements are very welcome, stability is great, I only rebooted for the first time two weeks ago and that's since I installed it in July (MSDN subscriber got the RTM early) for a desktop OS that is pretty stable.
In my opinion the numbers who now move to 64 bit will be significant and will finally consign 32bit limits like 4GB (3GB usable) RAM to history, unlikely that we will ever run out of RAM capacity in 64 bit on personal machines but you never know ;)
With Camera's and Video Cams generating ever more data more and more ordinary folk need the memory available in 64 bit systems to get stuff done in a reasonable time i.e. video editing and for me processing my photos in Adobe Lightroom and so on.
You can do all that already but a good 64 bit system with lots of RAM makes it so much quicker and easier. :)
Windows 7 is a great product from Microsoft best in a long time.

nice pics jim.it's always interesting seeing how different people set up their d/top. i HAVE to have my recycle bin at top left hand corner or else i'm lost.
I sort peoples pcs out for them on a regular basis and if thier bin is not where i like it it sure is when i return it to them fixed lol
i know i have been baging on about windows 7 for ages but i think once you have used it for a while you would not go back to xp.
keith is right about having a powerful pc when running vista, but most people home users don't have great pcs maybe 2.0 cpu and 1 gig ram with onboard graphics.
they would notice improvement using w7 over vista.
anyway i'm enjoying my w7 experience and searching for drivers is virtually redundant now,it's a great o/s.

Some lovely Pictures.
Was speaking to the Network architect at work and they just be often Windows 7 licenses as good as free! Defintely a good OS which im sure MS and its shareholders it will make them a lot money.
But they are going to offer as a loss leader it appears, hoping to get sharepoint, server, office upgrades etc in the workplace.
He mentioned in early testing there are some corparate network issues. But were still waiting untill sometime next year before any live user testing is done. As his Network bods were still raising concerns and of course no one wants to take risks in the current climate.
Plus he was having the IT managmement and Finance bods concerned and not wanting to sign off as he could not guarantee a actual percentage increase in output:Erm:
As plenty of desktops/laptops used across various parts of the EMEA his team had identified as needing extra memory or in some cases upgrading to ensure "no Issues"
But as Jim says the 64bit issue should future proof systems for a while but of course we all remeber the old 640kb limit.
But from the Websites we run quite a few people on their personal devices are moving over to Windows 7 anything to run away from Vista:D But very little happening as you would expect with work devices..
