This could be relevant to "Filipino Nurses" and "Introduce Yourself".
It's a 40% pass rate which I'm told is usual.
The "oath taking ceremony" is in March, with a 600 pesos fee.
To register with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) in UK will cost 10 times as much.
Even with the low pass rate, it's a lot of nurses hoping to work abroad.
I'm no expert on what the chances are of work here; but the Department of Health has predicted a shortfall of 14,000 nurses this year.
Philippine Nurses Association of UK could help : www.pnauk.org.uk

Alan i think the pass rate could be set around the 40% mark every year..

just like plab 1, where they work out the average mark of everyone who took the eaxm, then some top docs study the questions and decided what the pass mark should be, but its nearly always 0% to 10%!!! higher than the average mark, meaning many people can not pass.

To me, this is scary :yikes: It's a huge number of failures, but also a huge number of graduate nurses emerging twice a year, the majority looking for work abroad. So maybe the only way to choose them is by exam performance. We've heard on the Forum about at least some filipino nurses having the wrong attitude / opinions, and who knows whether those selected this way are necessarily the best to help patients. :doh I don't have the answers but I wonder if girls and boys choosing nursing as a career in the Philippines realise what they're taking on:Erm:

feb 2009 pass rate was 44.51%.
june 2009 pass rate was 41.87%

some people who fail don't bother taking the exam again :NoNo:

one of my misses class mates failed the board exam 4 times, and had to take a year long review course :doh
