Hi

I am about to visit the wife again end of March after a very long wait. She has asked me if i can drive the family van while i am out there but need some advice before i say yes.

1) Can i drive over there on a UK driving licence
2) Is there anywhere i can familiarisemyself with the road signs /markings before i go
3) anybody else attempted it?
4) do i need additional insurance for the van or myself

If i do, i will be driving in Tacloban and SAmar so nothing as busy as Manilla or Cebu. Any advice or help would be useful

THanks

yes for 90 days

signs are easy very few and everyone ignores them except if the plod are skint (often the case)

the vehicle should already have insurance if its fully registered however that wont help much if you damage anything as its always your fault

And bear in mind that preventative maintanence is not often practiced

The basic rule is biggest has right of way and dont hit anything

On the plus side if your staying longer you can buy a licence and be as drunk as you like just pay a few quid and your on your way:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Samar has some particularly bad roads so be careful..
Filipinos are amongst the worst drivers in the world and if they hit you it will be deemed your fault.. I hate driving here..:NoNo:
