What an uncanny coincidence! Steinbeck is my fave author of all time!

:xxgrinning--00xx3: Most people only know of Mice and Men, as it's always taught in schools (or used to be), but another great one is East of Eden, rather long, but a great yarn. Also, well worth a read is Travels With Charley In Search Of America, the true story of his road trip across America with his beloved poodle.

Same here I used to get through untold books but now seldom have the time - also feel the internet has to share some of the blame.

Just reading Vulcan 607 which I got from the library - story behind the Black Buck bombing raids in 1982 on the Falklands by RAF Vulcans flying out of Ascension Island.

For those interested in this amazing plane click below, turn up your speakers and listen to the howl :yikes: (around 6mins 40 secs is good)

I liked "Pillars of the Earth" also.

A few of my favourite books are "One Hundred Years Of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcias Marquez, "Sometimes A Great Notion" by Ken Kesey and "Fata Morgana" by William Kotzwinkle.

I've never really been a fan of reading fiction, but prefer to read biography's.
Not usually famous people, but the interesting ones, have often been in the gutter, at some point, or turned their back on normal society. :cwm24:

Like many here, have been sidetracked by the internet.

My current read is 'Fate Is The Hunter' by Earnest K Gann, first published in 1961.
Is memoirs of a pilot in the pioneering days of airline travel in DC2 and DC3's, including being drafted into the war efforts. Is a really gripping read, and non fiction!
