Cool down lad, as far as I am aware there was no offense, implied or otherwise, in Laurel's post, and you are not helping yourself climb the popularity stakes, in the forum, with the belligerant attitude displayed...:NoNo:

Laurel noted your way of posting as "twitter" speak..... or text style writing.... Which is annoying to the most of us old fogies with young and sexy wives, because we are used to speak and write in the Queen's english...

And please refrain from calling our members nasty names in future....:cwm23:

Jokes aside, Bab, I am quite chuffed that a little bit of History was created this season, and Jose' ghost has been laid to rest forever.:xxgrinning--00xx3:

I perfectly understand and admire the fact that "some" other teams may have grown bored with winning the double, but for us it is the first time, and sooner or later everyone is bound to loose his/her virginity....:D

I have lived in East London all my life ras and the only people who speak your way have spent too much time in front of tele watching trashy american `in the hood` or `the wire`type of films. I have children ranging from 37 to 18 and the younger one tries it on until I pull him up about it.
No disrespect ras but you aint talking London English, thats lazy US crap. I bet face to face you can speak in a way that everyone understands:D

hahaha..this is great debate.......I am one of those who fall into the 20 years olders category (UK 44 year old male).....and I know for sure there is no dissappointment in any department as far am my fiancee is concerned! Maybe its because I am wiser, kinder, more caring and appreciate love far more than I did when I thought I knew everything and in fact I knew very little....oh by the way I can give any young stag a run for his money....nothing wrong with me since I met my 20years younger filipino,in fact quite the opposite, she loves everything she gets from me and I adore her.......but hey who cares , I don't care what anyone thinks and neither does she.

I knew only few Pinays married to British who left their old hubby.:xxgrinning--00xx3:
I just respect my kababayans if they fall in love with 20 years age gap.
Although it wasn't in my qualification list before.
But I believe in destiny although some people can't understand this.:doh:bigcry:
My dad in Law used to pick me up from job and we stopped at garage for a fuel.
I have noticed a couple who staring at me and they both looking at me and I was thinking if they feel disgusted with me (front seat) and dad at driver seat.
I just kept quiet and told my husband about it but he said next time, ask them why and what's wrong.
I told hubby if I speak, I'll surely get in trouble.

Sorry Ras, But your attempt to be cool or hip just doesn't wash with most of us. If you really think your way of speaking is the 'new' British language, think again. Being a teacher, I think that text speak is a poor and lazy way of talking. Let me tell it in plain english, no one really speaks like that in real life, London 'speak' or not, I have never seen anyone talking that way in nEastenders.
If you have to read and re-read someone's post because you don't understand it, does this not tell you something is wrong?:Cuckoo::doh:NoNo::rolleyes:

Imagine if one doth speaketh the same wayeth as thee hasth in Shakespearean times of yore  Those who are complaing are writing/speaking in a way which is more simplified than it was years ago. Ras's way may seem lazy, but language is constantly evolving. Personally, I prefer english written properly, but speak with plenty of slang, but I'm not going to get on my high horse over those who choose to type or speak differently. :76:

I'm a Filipina and yeah I see that a lot of girls go for older guys...but don't always assume that it's just because these girls only want the guys' money and visas and other things that would make their lives better than they currently have..one big reason these girls go for older guys is because of the maturity, the willingness and readiness to settle down, and the commitment that we all girls want in a guy..which most of the younger guys isn't ready to do so..

I can only ever remember one other member in his 20s, and he was getting so narked trying to get a visa for his gf. He put it down to these old playboys deciding they wanted a new toy and getting a filipina girl over, only to kick her into touch months down the line, making the whole process for legit unmarried couples all the more harder. tbh I understand Ras more than some of the Filipinas on here. i don't know about the 'forum scene' but in the warez scene, taking what you want and giving nothing back your called a 'hit and runner'

i'm not sure about the exact figure, but there have been 4,000+ registered users ( you can see the exact figure on the main forum page) and only 400 are active, what does that tell you ??
nearly 9/10 get what they want and go.. sure some have good reasons, but how about paying something back and help others out and contributing to the forum and keeping it alive, everyone has something to contribute, but many can't be :action-smiley-081:

You' re right. Makes you wonder how people coped before the internet :Erm:

I can only ever remember one other member in his 20s, and he was getting so narked trying to get a visa for his gf. He put it down to these old playboys deciding they wanted a new toy and getting a filipina girl over, only to kick her into touch months down the line, making the whole process for legit unmarried couples all the more harder. tbh I understand Ras more than some of the Filipinas on here. No offence ladies :D Maybe I get too many texts from young eastenders :icon_lol:

I was in me 20's when I first met the missus and been a few others I recall most from those I have spoken to dont seem to get involve to much on the Site.. I guess they are more used to forums and googling info and find the information needed and so never get totally involved maybe..

The Wife hardly used the Internet when she first got here which i found odd she was far happier with the Phone. I guess she oded on being on a laptop but she soon got back on facebook n what not which keeps her upto the second on whats going on back in da Phills:D

Plenty of Hit n runners I know on other sites I have hit n run not meant any harm by it just the way it is. as you say sometimes its simply not part of peoples routine to check the web unless they need to:) I think also many simply need to get away from it all and like you say concentrate on family and work life:)

Im sure if I totalled up the hours i spent on here it would be a fair few but the cost of the advice and news on here is priceless:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Can be small things like hearing xoom is basically no go for Brits or PNB are moving office in Notting hill, news on the festivals etc.

I have not bothered calculating but pre visa and flight over we saved thousands and im sure we have saved more since from using this site.
At the moment the Wife is on her 3 Skype phone which costs her nothing a month to run just the odd charge of leccy to call her friends and family in phill wherever she is in the UK with a mobile signal.

I belive the improvement in the PNB service is partly down to the praise and critical comments on here...

Im amazed how many have just appiled for their Visa when they join up:rolleyes: By then it maybe to late

OK, I don't really understand everything Ras says, seems a bit gibberish, but nevermind. Anyway to try and approach his original subject. I asked the same question when I first joined, and having been a member for a while I think i've started to understand the situation a bit more.
I personally am a younger guy, and have an older missus from the Philippines ( 8 years older). We're happy, we met the conventional way, flirting, dating and so on and despite the age difference it works for us. I personally find the younger Filipina's, whilst nice, too immature.
Now as for the older guy, filipina girl situation. I don't think a lot of the men go out particularly looking for a younger woman. I think it's more a supply and demand situation. A lot of the relationships start via the internet, and the dating sites tend to attract older guys. Younger guys really have very little reason to go looking abroad for women, when it's so easy to pick someone up in a nightclub.
The older guys, often are divorced, and are looking for a particular kind of relationship and seem to be drawn for there own reasons to looking through Filipina Dating websites. I really don't think they go looking for someone younger, it's something that just happens because a lot of the women on the dating websites are younger. It's an innocent situation, and I really don't believe their is an malice or perverted intentions in these website (or if it is, its a minority). Age is only a barrier if you choose to make it a barrier.
A lot of the Filipina's go onto these websites looking for a better life, and I don't think that those people are too bothered about the age of the person. The girls in the Philippines that are bothered, I very much doubt would take the time to seriously register with the dating websites.

Now as for the Philippines itself, and many S.E Asian countries, they do attract their fair share of perverts, who probably wouldn't survive living the same life in the UK. As for these, they are generally pretty different people to those that post on this website (well, thats the opinion i've formed over time). They stand out like a sore thumb in these places, and I think you're less likely to notice the younger guys with the Filipinas because of that.

Ricky, another thought provoking post.
I agree, when you are a young guy it is much easier to go to a club etc but, when you hit that middle age it's not that simple and us middle aged are typed casted which is wrong. For me and my wife the internet came along at the right time, without it, we would never of found eachother.

They stand out like a sore thumb in these places, and I think you're less likely to notice the younger guys with the Filipinas because of that.

I agree with that, good post. While the age of someone that I've been looking for has been ideally late 20's to late 30's, I have had quite a few messages from girls as young as 18. The most common age of girls on one of the websites is 22-23. There is nowhere near as many girls on the sites aged 30+. I guess both of those facts are as mostly Filipinas tend to marry younger than they do here (I guess like it used to be like in UK in years past) and also a lot if women here concentrate on their careers first and as we know that isn't easy for a lot of Filipinas because of the high unemployment/difficulty in finding jobs there.

I do think that relationships between Filipinas aged 25+ and older guys will have less problems than younger Filipinas in their late teens/early 20's and a guy with the same age difference, mainly due to their immaturity and inexperience in life and relationships. Of course everyone is different and some girls in their late teens are very responsible and mature for their age.

I guess a lot of people here can't understand and have certain opinions as in general the age difference here is the same age to just a few years older, so something that is different seems strange to them. The guy being younger than the woman tends to work better as women in general prefer a guy who is a bit more mature and wordly-wise as guys mostly mature later. Also if you meet when you're a bit older and want kids, it works better with the guy being older too.

I have found that now I'm over 40 with British women on dating sites, I rarely have any interest from any younger than late 30's and a lot of them already have kids & don't want anymore. I even see that with women in their late 20's and early 30's.

I think marriages for us with Filipinas stand a better chance or working as they in general they are less demanding and not so bothered with certain material things. But mainly though, they work harder at the marriage & family life where a lot of British women will through in the towel during a problem period or start to see someone else. Of course there are guys who are just the same! It's sad to see so many broken homes nowadays compared to the past and it makes you wonder if some of the relationships could have been saved with a bit more effort in making it work and trying to sort out what the problems were.

I shall end this essay now! :icon_lol:

I confess, my wife got me to try it and I must say didn't look too bad, the thing was you couldn't do anything without them falling down, so doing jobs around the house, washing the car was out of the question.

I did forget to reiterate what Kieth said. This forum is read all over the world mostly in PH and UK so using simple English makes common sence for everyone :D

True South east boy, My Mum and Dad were married 63years and most of them were unhappy for my Mum but, there was 6 of us kids and she stood by us all.
It wasn't until my Dad retired that things changed for the better for her. Was she right or wrong to stay all those unhappy years, me thinks not ( oh sorry this london talk is rubbing off).
Dad was a good man, he didn't beat any of us but, he did drink, gamble and liked the women.
I do remember one night while 'Family at war' was on the TV and Mum found at packet of butterscotch angel delight. It was shared between 5 of us because Dawn, my sister was watching 'That'll be the day' with David Essex at the pictures and Dad was sowing his seeds...oh happy days:D
We all loved him anywayz

have to agree with you here SE boy
for a guy in his 40's i think a late 20's early 30's filipino lady is a far better bet than a younger girl for a successful relationship- the only difficulty could be kids etc depending on each individuals point of view

i guess mine and myrnas case is a bit unusual in that me at 44 and Myrna at 31 are both without kids so we can start our married life without prior baggage ( i know kids aint baggage but you know what i mean )- well start our married life when the bleeding embassy get thier finger out and sort her visa:crazy:

Hi Sparky, I'm sure yours will come through anyday now, so don't worry, you will have bigger hurdles to jump later!
as for children, you are right, 'you have not got that additional baggage' and I add, the additional cost as others will point out. If I remember correctly, it was 75,000 for Jane and it would of been 75,000 for each child as well as flights etc etc The mind boggles!!.
I would give my high teeth for a gaggle of them, thats for sure. We are in the process so, will keep you all informed ;)

Roughly the same age difference as exists between US ... I'm 65 and Myrna, 51. Again, we'd no previous "baggage" - both of us being widowed. Which is WHY, while in one respect, I'm surprised that the Embassy APPEARS to be "dragging its heels" with your visa application, I would surmise that the delay has been caused by a backlog arising from March to September being the busiest time of year for submissions [as I seem to remember reading on here recently]. Added to this, is the fact that Manila now handles requests from a substantial part of South East Asia  ... whereas WE applied in January 2009 - a much "quieter" period - before the current 'system' came into effect.

But rest assured, Myrna WILL be granted her visa ... there's no earthly reason to suppose otherwise! :xxgrinning--00xx3:

i am a member on a very active board that has a membership of probably 30,000+ but i guess that only a few hundred of those are regular posters. its no use complaining about the lurkers and posters cos they are a part of forum life i guess. i prefer to take an active part but not everyones the same

You all disssed qUeEn BeE when she first joined because of the way she wrote, but warmed to her in the end. Any chance of giving Ras a break here? He seems to have got up the noses of a lot of members, maybe I missed a thread or two. be a shame to see him leave. No offence to anybody here, but some of the stories are getting a bit cliched - old guy meets young girl, marries, wants visa advice, gets her over, then never comes back to the forum again. Here's a fella thats a bit different and its like some kind of witch hunt :doh

No way a witch hunt. He has just done a post in simple English we can all read and understand without effort so it can be done.
Imagine what the others are going through where English is not there first tongue, in fact I guess what they will be doing, passing on to the next thread.

I agree. If you've joined this forum and taken advantage of the wealth of advice from people who have been there, done that, and in some cases, done it twice, then I think you should stick around and pass on what you've gone through personally and what you've learned along the way.

In my case I have tried to stick around and share what I can with others - but as I am not a daily visitor (and wasn't before either - although admittedly more regular) usually all the questions I can help with have been answered and I think I'm not needed!!! Also this is the first forum I ever joined and I still find it a bit weird communicating with all sorts of people on thoughts and feelings (and have found my occasional foray into sharing thoughts not respected!), I don't have facebook or any other social networking sites and don't intend to - so I tend to stick to help where I can - hence not very visible.

On the age thing I am a British female and my Filippino husband is 7 years younger than me...not a huge gap, but demonstrating that we are all different - the CFO hadn't dealt with a guy for a settlement visa before, but I'm sure you guys know of someone!! This is also a reason for difference, he doesn't want to go shopping so can't empathise on those issues!!!

Keep at it all!

My ex husband was 13 years older than me, I did not marry/divorce him because of anything you mentioned but because he doesn't look after his family well. He can bear not to see his kids because he doesn't want to part with any penny of his like he always did while we were still living together. Just today, I've collected balikbayan boxes from what you call an 'odd couple' and they seem very happy. They are now going back to the Philippines to settle down there. There must have been 30 years difference between them. For me age doesn't matter, it's how you treat your partner. And how do you know that older men doesn't satisfy young women? Do you know how to satisfy a woman? :)

Hi all,
With reference to people buggering off when they get their wives to the UK or Filipinas finally arriving here, I think that everything changes for all of us when couples are finally together.
Day-to-day married life kicks in and many are probably working all the hours they can as their wife will have little or no work at first.
I would love to have more time to post and read through the threads.
I still see that I have 4000+ unread posts all the time

I've been here since 2005, nearly 5 years, before this forum we only had the old asawa.org, but that was mostly for Americans with a European section - I'm sure Gavin, Geoff(Erve's husband) and Pete will remember it well. I've seen many members come and go on FilipinoUK, but its developed into more than simple visa advice as Clevedon Simes says and this is what keeps members around a bit longer.
