Mixture of both........my last visit , the arrival was spoiled by some bastos guy trying to earn a peso or two........Id been to NAIA before , but this time was a bit disoriented and was confused as to where I should be standing, ie last letter of my surname. Thought I was where i should be and couldnt see my gf...........was spotted by an over eager man , but who even when I had spotted my girl insisted on carrying my case. I insisted he shouldnt cos I wsnt giving him any tips. However he ignored me and them pestered me for some money................He wasnt happy when I told him to go away.....by then the reunion moment was dead.............for the time being anyway:)

Interesting point! It can be a "weird" experience, really ... when you think about it ... especially with LDRs. Both of you have been contemplating 'that first encounter' for ... oh ... probably months ahead. And now ... 'the moment' has finally come! :yikes: EVEN if you've already met - and spent a great deal of time together on a previous occasion - there's still an element of strangeness for each of you when you experience that dreamlike, "floating on air" feeling as you find yourself [almost] "drifting" :gost: towards the other person. Admittedly, a lot of it has to do with disturbed sleep patterns caused by 'jet lag' ... especially if YOU'RE the one who's made the loooooooong journey ...!
Not sure if I've explained this very well. But for all that ... I think you'll know what I mean!

...slightly exasperated that after you've travelled 20 hours they don't appear to be there even though you've walked round the meeting area twice - very shocked when your name is called and you are approached by a man with hair 7 inches longer than last time - my daughter hid behind my legs not quite sure if this really was daddy!!
then a hug and a kiss - and definatley hand over the backpack!

I always seem to fly KLM because it's the cheapest , their flight gets you into Manila at 08.45am so there's never been an airport moment for me as Rebella's flight from Dipolog gets her to the hotel @2pm. Normally it's a brief hug only till the room then a passionate 5 mins before going out for sushi........i often think she prefers sushi to me hehehe

sparky,
I suppose we can think that all Filipinas are like the one we love, because she is the one we know so much about.
My wife has never met me in the airport :yikes:
She prefered to meet me in Cebu City, and once she was back in the hotel feeling shy and nervous, she was hiding from me because she had a new hairstyle and that's just the way she is.
She phoned me at least 20 times asking me where I was :yikes:, when I expected her to be waiting in the arrivals.
She is quite shy really and is slowly becoming more confident.
I didn't see any Filipinas kissing their partners in the arrivals, I get the feeling they are all too respectful for that :xxgrinning--00xx3:

thats what was behind my post- the first few times i met Myrna at the airport i was ""underwhelmed by her greeting but then now i realise its a cultural thing. also my Myrna sounds as shy as your lady, tho when its just the 2 of us shes not :D

I made a point early on of preventing the ritual of coming out to meet me at the airport.
When I go back to the Phils I am coming home, that is where my heart is, that is where my children are.
It's way easier, cheaper, safer for me to grab a taxi at the official rank rather than wander through the tunnel down to the meet and greet area at NAIA and then spend ages trying myopically to find everyone on the other side of the road and then grab a dodgy taxi that won't be any cheaper.
So I don't have a reunion at the airport any more (haven't for 4 years) I have a reunion at home and the response can vary to cover all of your options depending on how we are both feeling.
These days I will give more attention to the kids first as their feelings are more vulnerable.
Saying that there was one exception, back just after last Christmas I went out to Amsterdam to meet Ana and bring her back to the UK when she flew over here from Korea, that time it was a big hug and big kiss then a mad rush to catch the connecting flight as her flight was one and a half hours late :)

displaying of affection is not disrespectful,,,....the reason why the filipinos dont kiss at the airport is because it might encourage the airport authorities to impose a kissing tax:rolleyes:

Well, if they had when Yam was still in Philippines, I'd have paid it. Would have been worth every peso! :D
