You can't just get a British passport, you need to live in the UK first for at least 3 years which require you to apply for a at least a couple of visas.
Where do you plan to get married - in the Philippines or the UK?

Adoption can be a major problem if the father does not agree.
Including visa application time, and time in UK, it'll be about 4 years before you'd see a British passport.

You need to verify the legal status of you child for you have to contact:
Department of Social Welfare and Development
Constitution Hills, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City, Philippines
Tel. (632)931-81-01 to 07
Even when you apply for you visa, more likely the embassy will ask documentation from DSWD regarding you son because he is a minor.

First thing is talk and think about your spouse visa and convince the ECO if your relationship is genuine. :D
British passport is long way to go.

You can't get married in the UK if you already got married in the Philippines (though obviously you could have some form of blessing and/or a party in the UK).
So you will need to apply for a spouse visa after you get married.

if the father is not mentioned on the birth cert then you need to show you have legal custody (which you should have as the child is under 7)and also you have sole responsibility for the child.

This might sound stupid but how do I show that I have sole custody/responsiblity of the child if the father was never mentioned in the birth certificate? I am in the same situation as sasa... Thank you

Aw ... the much-maligned Welsh :bigcry: ... are they REALLY that bad? What about the well-known anthem declaring they "keep a *welcome [in] the hillside ~ when you come home again to :wales:"? Or, on second thoughts, is *this restricted to their own ex-pat boyos?

if the father is not mentioned on the child's birth cert then you shouldn't really have any problems if the child lives with you. does the child have contact with the father ? depending on the age of the child they could be interviewed.
you could have custody of the child but not sole responsibility ( the child could live on the other side of the phils with your mom or other relative while you work in Manila etc the embassy might say you dont have sole responsibility, or worse you work in another country)
search for 'sole responsibility on the forum.

you can go to your local social welfare office and ask for a certificate of solo parent (sole custody) just like what i did to my 2 kids.
