View Full Version : Still going to The Philippines in August

Englishman2010
5th July 2010, 19:19
Following on from my thread yesterday, I have decided that I might as well still take my flights to Manila in August and January and use the time to tour the Far East properly on my own. Flights around the region are not that expensive, and it seems pointless wasting the money I have already paid on the long haul flights.
Who knows what will happen when I'm on my travels:)

Thanks for the offer Ricky:xxgrinning--00xx3: I don't get into Manila until Aug 20th, and I'm not really sure what my plans are yet. I have a flight to Tacloban already paid for, but I might give that a miss and head up to Taiwan or Japan for a few days, or go over to Indonesia or Malaysia. I had a brief stay in South Malaysia last year and thoroughly enjoyed it there and always said I would go back to explore it properly. Lot's of choices, who knows.

Yes definately the right decision to go. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Do you remember HopeUK? he flew out to meet his ladyfriend & things didn't go well & was on the next flight out of the Philippines...I'm sure he has some regrets now, that he didn't stay a bit longer & maybe travelled on to somewhere else.

An odd decision, he had his reasons I suppose - I'd have at least stuck around for a few days

Think he was just too down? but I would have jumped on a plane & gone to another Island...It's a long way to go, then to come straight back again.

Hi Englishman2010,

Keep all options open especially as your girlfriend showed such a lack of respect for you :NoNo:

There are so many nice Filipinas who would not be so disrespectful :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Yes, keep your eyes open when you're there, and who knows, you may just get chatting to a wonderful stranger ... who can become something more :)

I certainly will. It hasn't put me off Filipina's or the Philippines, I'm sure the majority are far more respectful, you can't judge a whole race by the actions of one person.

It's not my loss, I don't have to go back to the slums wondering where my next meal will come from or if I can afford to pay the rent next week.

I certainly will, there's no point wasting the good money I paid for both flights (Aug & Jan). I've travelled all over the world on my own in recent years, it doesn't bother me. I always end up making friends with others in hotels or bars, so I see no reason why these trips should be any different. I have a few good friends who work in the oil and shipping industry dotted around SE Asia and they have already offered me accomodation if I am in their part of the world.

you mentioned your type of girl on this thread but what about ur description? its good to know too how can we describe you to our decent filipina friends here.. don't worry, not all filipinas are after the foreigner's money.. we too have a huge heart capable of loving - in truth and in deed.. lol :heartshape1:

Good point Rani, I don't like giving too much info away on public sites. If you PM me, I will give you my Facebook ID so you can add me and find out a bit more.

Yes, I'm fully aware that most Filipina's are honest, loving and loyal, I was just unlucky with the one I met first.

How can I describe myself without sounding too soft or too hard? Hard working, honest, loyal, caring and considerate, prepared to listen to another's point of view before making a decision or judgement, and allways willing to give 100% to make a relationship work. A good talker and more importantly a good listener. I have a good sense of humor, but also know how to behave when I have to. I enjoy travelling and spending time with my kids. I'm not afraid of my own company, but like to spend my time with someone who shares the same values as me and will treat me with the same respect I will treat them.

I don't know what else to say about me, but at least that is a start:D

That's the right way to be Steve. Age brings many great qualities, especially experience and wisdom. You never hear of the Wise Young Man/Woman, it's always the Wise Old Man/Woman.
Fortunately, I'm not in the 'old' bracket yet:)

Manhy thanks

I've sorted out my flights now. I am going to spend a couple of days in Manila to start off, but then going to Malaysia and Indonesia via Singapore for 6 days, I've got a couple of good ex-pat friends who have offered to put me up for a few days over there. Then back to Manila for 6 days. I might go down to Batangas and Puerto Galera or maybe get a flight to Tacloban and go to Samar, still undecided on that but I guess I can leave it until i get there before I decide. I will have an unused return flight to tacloban that I can't use the outward leg on, so I might just get a one way and use the return leg.
One things is for sure, I am not bothered about travelling around on my own and looking forward to meeting new friends on my travels:xxgrinning--00xx3:
