Morons tacky "shrines" - the one that got me locally was at a lamp post on a busy A road. About 3 years ago a piece of trash in a stolen car tried to outrun pursuing Police, thankfully it was in the middle of the night and he didn't harm any other road users.
Even more thankfully he ploughed into the lamp post and saved us all a lot of Police/Court/Jail costs :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Answer; The guy Moat killed.

so when he left prison did anyone check he was fit to leave?
are you aware how many people get released without any kind out checks?

What are you saying? That a person who has served their sentence should be subjected to some type of pre-release test ? A kind of double jeopardy. And that maybe someone (who) would then be able to extend their sentence? I think you might get some opposition the that one.

As they are all let out early they are supposed to be subject to pre-release checks ... although knowing this country that has probably been trimmed down just to making sure they don't have long toe nails :doh

im saying that when a prisoner whos about to get released, goes through a process to see that hes fit to survive in the real world.
like where will they live and their home life, how will they get money etc.....:xxgrinning--00xx3:
they get released without any kind of help or support, why do you think so many reoffend?

QUOTE:-
Prisoners preparing for release
A prisoner may be asked to attend groups or courses to help them with any behaviour problems they may have, such as alcohol or drug abuse, gambling, financial pressures, depression, aggression or lack of temper control, or sexual matters.
Thus it would appear the pre-release program is solely to assist the prisoner not to assess their suitability to be released.
Pleased (I know you will) correct me if I am wrong.

I had a pretty tough, poor childhood, brought up in a bad area of London. Maybe thats why I became a police officer and served the public and why for the past 15 years I have been a voluntary translator assisting people in Spain, OR maybe it was because I was taught the difference between right and wrong and to respect others !!
KeithD
13th July 2010, 14:31
If you are not a child then you are responsible for your own actions regardless of your upbringing. You'll find entrepreneurs who were sexually abused and beaten as a child doing very well in life. You can't commit crime on blame it on anything else other than yourself.

The vast majority of people from poor, broken, disturbed backgrounds choose to obey the law and not become killers.
Making prisons harsher discourages repeat offending. Like I said in another thread if Moat had been in Singapore he would still be in jail now unable to sit down from the thrashing he was given as part of his punishment for assault. He would be facing ample time in jail to realise the error of his ways and the futility of breaking the law.

..... if people had a better life less crime will be committed!
That argument is a dead duck .... We have a massively better standard of living now than 30+ years ago, and yet have more crime than ever. Crime like drugs & alcohol, is a lifestyle choice not a necessity.

My prisons would be hell-holes,you would dread my prisons.
You would sleep on cold slabs,no blankets,be fed rotten food, chain gang break rock up style,no tv's,playstations etc.
A weekly round up of the hard times endured would be broadcast on all tv channels at peak time showing you how you will suffer in prison.
So you know the consequences of ending up in jail and you aint gonna want to be there:omg:

Crime need to be recatagorised for such things, with non-custodial sentences for things like that, but they must do community service at minimum wage to make up the costs...obviously they don't actually get any money ... or the bailiffs got the house.

We had better form a company Les and get our names on the tender list for the next prison privatisation contracts.
Another cost saving option would be to outsource the prisons to the Chinese, the cost of keeping a convict out there is say a 20th of what it is here. Ten times as many vermin could then be jailed and the Govt gets to save hundreds of millions £'s:Bouncy: The Chinese are well versed in running hell hole type prisons

LIVERPOOL’S Liberal Democrat leader Warren Bradley has warned his party faces being wiped out by Labour in the North, due to its coalition with the Tories.
He told the Daily Post he fears the party could be completely eradicated within five years.
Cllr Bradley said a number of the 37 Lib-Dems on the city council were among thousands now considering their membership of the party.
He spoke out after the coalition pulled the plug on Building Schools for the Future, which would have delivered 26 new secondary schools in Liverpool.
