Cheers guys... gr8 support here on the forum!
We decided to take the chance and apply for tourist visa. Given the small fees it was worth a try. Refusal i guess similar to most.... lack of funds in her account and no employment!
Arlene went back studying a year ago but even letter from school didnt convince them, likewise that her son wasnt travelling.

Next plan is i guess to get married!!:hubbahubba:

Sorry to hear that Alan please don't give up and take the opportunity to start again but this time there would be no reason to refuse her application.

Fiance or spouse visa would better.:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Goodluck ! Cheer up!:)

visit visa, there is no consistency in them granting or refusing the visit visa, even if you had a job or savings many still get refused..

most of the time its pot luck, i think they throw app the apps in the air and catch a few, and those are granted and the rest get refused :doh

Sorry to hear your news Alan, I'm sure words of support are of no real consolation to you, but I'm sure you know you are among friends on here and we all wish you success in your future job hunting, and more importantly with your future visa application. I know how it feels to have your g/f's tourist visa turned down, my ex's was turned down for similar reasons about 3 months ago.
Stay positive, keep on smiling, it will all work out well for you in the end:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Much Appreciated Englishman...
i was following your recent posts.
Hope you have a gr8 holiday.. If you decide on more of Asia other than Phils i can thoroughly recommend the islands of Malaysia!
Like others have said there doesnt appear to be sensible logic with all Tourist applications and find it hard to comprehend sometimes than the decision makers are quite short sighted in some ways.
Most of us know and understand the system today and are all not interested in making our G/Fs "overstay" but they are happier to direct us down the road of Fiancee or spouse.
Is this a money making scam? i dunno...
Is it fair that those of us genuinely wish our partners to visit the UK before deciding on our future are flirting with possible family and relationship breakdowns because they have eventually to live so far from home etc etc...
Again i dunno...

Sorry for the "rant".. and im sure there is content here for many more contentious posts........

Sorry Alan, as I've said before, we're victims of the system, regarding the visa. :NoNo:

Have you ever thought of working for yourself?...Nobody can ever make you redundant again. :Jump:

A TOUGH week for you, right enough, Alan. :doh There's little I can add to what has been said here already ... except to say, I admire your "onwards and upwards" philosophy; :iagree: ... things CAN only get better...!!! And I wish YOU - and all the others who find themselves in a similar situation - the very best of luck for the future. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
