Morning!:)
The meals I cook on a regular basis are Sinigang na Baboy/Hipon/Ox Tail, Adobo Baboy/Manok, Bistek, Corned Beef, Torta, Tinola. Never cooked Kare Kare for some reason. I don't know the Filipino name for it, but I fry fresh cod and pour over a couple of tins of tomatoes fried in garlic, onions, thickened with a couple of beaten eggs with added patis.

It would count as Filipino cooking if you used Skyflake Crackers instead of Graham Crackers:)

I can't believe to Davey how he cooks pinoy food on a regular basis. :omg: .. it would've been nice to be your neighbour. I don't need to cook mine anymore. I'm just gonna pop in to your house to eat anytime :D

... why don't you cater to some Filipino parties? I reckon you are even a better cook than other Filipinos who are not even bothered to touch a pan themselves.:NoNo:

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK to all the Brits who do cook pinoy foods........................... A++++++

Yeah, I can cook - a little. I like to have some meat and vegetables and make something out of them. Always have herbs and spices in the cupboard as you never know when you need some paprika:xxgrinning--00xx3:

And I own a book on Filipino food, but I think it is a pretty bad book, no real advice and lacking in actual photographs... the downside of amazon book shopping:cwm3:

I do plan on learning a few dishes for Rizza, but her favorite food is southern fried chicken and rice... Guess that will be easy to figure out:rolleyes:

Good on yer Steve - and don't wave the white flag just because you can't find the exact same ingredients as those in Phil. You can always adapt mate.

Contrary to what our female colleagues may think, the British male is is more than capable in the kitchen:icon_lol: On and off I have lived on my own since I was 18 yrs old, and had to learn how to cook, clean, do the laundry, ironing, sewing, and all of the other household chores that women think men can't do. I don't see them as mens or womens jobs, they are just jobs that need doing, and if i don't do it, it wont get done.
Back to the topic, I keep meaning to buy myself a Filipino recipe book so that I can try out some of my favorite Filipino dishes,...... Jollibee chicken and rice:icon_lol:

BistekDo you mean Bipstik? Maybe you made a a mistik!!
Bipstik in English is roughly translated to beef steak.. I think?:Erm:
My favourite is gabby leaves in coconut milk served with patis/calamansi/chilli!!
I cook it better than any Visayan local!!:xxgrinning--00xx3:
Best cooks in P.I are from Bicol...
Visayans don't have a clue IMO although I must admit I do enjoy their local vino!.

Hi Alan, thanks for the post. I think if you enjoy cooking anyway, it's easy to learn. Thanks for the tip about the shop. I visit Digital Depot in the Old Town quite often, so I'll check it out when I'm next there.
Anyway, it's adobo tonight. Took this shot a cpl minutes ago. The rice is already cooked:)
