I thought I would start here again as it’s been about a year since my last post.
At that time I was looking for information about the dreaded annulment process, and the easiest way to bring Janice and her son here. My last visit to the Phils was in August 09 and was hoping the court’s annulment judgement would have been given, so we could get married, but this was not so.
In January this year she was finally given the courts decision and annulled. To be honest it has taken 1-1/2 years from start to finish, 2 Attorney’s and lots headaches. I was at the point of thinking this is never going to happen, even after the court decision. We waited I’m not really sure why, maybe the court to hand the papers over to the NSO or the NSO. Anyway last week Janice had the official annulment paper back from the NSO. We were both so happy that we can finally get married, we talked and planned about my next visit for hrs.
She sent me a copy of the annulment paper to read, I said I would look at it later when she had gone. We said our goodbyes and I was left to study the paper, I was horrified to see a spelling mistake with her surname. My happiness turned to anger with the NSO.

The next day she went back to the local office to ask for it to be corrected,:ReadIt: they said it was a mistake in Manila and not their fault. She should go there and they would correct it or pay the processing fee again for them to do it. My guess is she walked out of the office angry, not easy to go to Manila if you’re in Mindanao, so we wait again.

My advice to anyone going though an annulment is stay in the background, don’t let the Attorney know you are paying, expect delays and disappointments. Expect to feel you’re in a hopeless situation totally out of your control, oh and expect the unexpected and you’ll be fine. :Cuckoo:
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark I remember you from before.
So many spelling mistakes & wrong dates, on offical papers...I'm sure it's just a moneymaking scheme. :NoNo:

Well I hope things continue to move forward...Welcome back :)

:welcomex: back among us, Mark. It's good to see you posting here again ... and I'm glad to learn that Janice's annulment papers finally came through after such an inordinately long wait. I am concerned, however, at the offhand attitude of her local Municipal Civil Registrar's Office. I mean ... irrespective of WHO was to blame for the careless spelling error ... surely it is THEIR responsibility  to return the document(s) to the NSO for amendment ... instead of expecting your good lady to travel all the way up to Manila from Mindanao - simply for the sake of having a relatively trivial matter rectified! And it makes me  that THEY should even consider asking her to bear the cost of the alternative ... especially when the mistake is no fault of hers.

I DO hope this issue can be resolved satisfactorily asap. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thanks Arthur

There have been many hurdles and hoops to jump though , the local courts, they seem to have there own time frames and procedures which haven’t followed true to some of the information given here and other Philippine legal websites. I can only imagine that courts have there own local views on annulments and have made it as hard as possible for Janice and myself in the hope of giving up.
Yes you would think that they would make good their mistake without charge, I know they didn’t personally make it but after all they still are the local branch of the NSO. :ReadIt:
They did tell Janice that it MAYBE it will be done quickly since it’s their typing mistake. :doh
