Hello everyone. My name is Angelica. I'm from Taguig City, PH. I discovered this site through my boyfriend and I thought this could be a good place to share things with Filipinos living in UK. I was with my choir on our European tour last May to June and had the chance to meet my boyfriend in person in Amsterdam. Right now, he's pushing that I visit UK soon because he wants me to meet his parents. I have met them but only on web cam and phone.
We're not really in the hurry (well, I should be, I'm 36 and he's only 28 hahaha) but anyway, that was our original plan - for me to visit first and see if I'd like London, the people and the culture. But sometimes, ours frustrations to be together lead us to fighting with each other. We've only been apart a month but we are missing each other already that sometimes pushing me to come will end in fights. I really do like to come, more than anything in this world but we are not like some members here that can do it anytime. Life is hard here in the Philippines and in our situation, man and woman are 50-50. And it's my turn to show I can take care of myself - just one step to show that "this is it...we are serious."
After a few minutes on the phone with his mom, we decided to change our plans. As much as slow but surely is much advisable, it's hard to be apart again if we get together the second time :( so we started looking at sites. We discovered that some sites offering jobs in the Philippines got so many scammers, so instead, he did a search on sites from his side that are reliable and existing for many years. We narrowed down our search to places near him. It would be easier if I can have friends to ask about these things, how life is there as Filipinos, as foreigners, someone who just came there, as someone who's been there long time already etc.
Whatever we find, we'll try to work around it and see what is most advisable for me...us. I am an accountant and singer here but what I am primarily looking for is a nanny job for I discovered there are lots of opening for them. I'm also considering going on training school there when everything is settled to get proper license etc. It will be a big welcome if I connect with Filipino communities for I know, and it is my passion to be active in a community, being an ambassadress singing in concerts for OFWs.
If you think you can take me under your wings, exchange messages on tips (at ugali ng mga brits sssshhh), I would really be thankful ^_^
