Welcome Trish, I am afraid I don't know the answer to your query although I am sure one of the other members will be able to help. How old is your son?

Why do you have to wait 4 months for your sons visa? Can't he wait on his own? Why didn't you process it with your own visa? And visa's are at the moment taking about 3 days to process.

Although there does not seem to be any details of residential requirements before you apply for ILR, after you have ILR and later apply for citizenship it states that you need to :-
have not spent more than 270 days outside the United Kingdom during the three-year period; and
have not spend more than 90 days outside the United Kingdom in the last 12 months of the three-year period
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/eligibility/naturalisation/spouseorcivilpartnerofcitizen/
You will be allowed back into the UK after your visit, but my advice would be to limit the time out of the UK to a minimum. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Trish darling, it doesnt take that long to process visa now. you try to answer them all here so they can help you out.
and when you apply for your son's visa, ask about yours. ika nga, when in doubt...ASK. and what better place to ask is if andun ka na din lang sa embassy, they are the authority.
:Cuckoo: tell them you will poke them if they dont answer you :Cuckoo:

sorry but i think you will find that the length of time that a visa will take will change back to normal after a while so i wouldnt expect every visa to take 2 days :D

as long as her visa is still valid she shouldn't have a problem coming back to the uk, but if shes been outside the UK a long time (without a good excuse and i dont think waiting for a visa is :cwm24:) there might be a problem when it comes to appyling for ILR. (also citizenship)
when it comes to applying for ILR, there is no set number of days you need to be in the uk to quailfy for ILR (each case is judged on its own merits), but the UK is suppose to be your home, but if you went for upto 90 days each year you should have a problem,,,
but before you apply for ILR, give the UKBA advice line a call and tell them how many days you've been outside the uk, becuase they might tell you to apply for FLR again becuase you've been out of the UK too long to apply for ILR. but a couple of months each year should be ok
