Hi,
1. Yes, it's okay to use your passport that hasn't been amended yet as well as using it to apply for ILR. (I've read so many questions like this before so yeah, based on what I've read.)
2. Always use whatever name you have in your passport. I assume it's still in your maiden name, then use it. Just bring your marriage certificate just in case.
If you still have time to change your passport to your married name, the better.. so that you don't have to transfer your ILR visa (if granted) one day.. but if your passport is still far to expire , then it's okay not to have it amended.
Since you're close to taking the Life in the UK test, can you also please check out my topic in this section? There's no reply to it. Maybe you can share any idea you have since you're ahead of me in regards with this ILR thing.
Thanks. Hope it helps.

Use the name on your PASSPORT ... that's what MY wife did recently ... remember to revise THOROUGHLY beforehand from the official Home Office 2007 publication - 'Life in the UK' - [2nd Edition] ... and Good Luck with the test! :xxgrinning--00xx3:
