Just got one for a 5 minute overstay!!!

Parked in the usual place - but this week they have changed the stay from one hour to thirty minutes!!!

I was away 35 minutes!!!

So, if there are any traffic wardens on this site - I advise you not to send me a friend request!!!!!!!!

There arent many things i detest but that job makes my blood boil. I have been lucky over the years and have only ever had a couple of fines, but I know personally people who have stories that are almost incredible to believe..................like the guy I worked with who paid for one weeks parking , displayed a large laminate receipt in the windscreen only to see from inside the house he was working on his van lifted onto the back of a lorry........................His crime??..........he parked on the WRONG side of the road, one side of the road was a different borough to the other, there werent any signs and the guy who lifted his van just said 'tough not my problem'. Cost £150 to get his van back and all the remonstrating in the world didnt make a blind bit of difference:cwm23:

Cant believe I was given a ticket here in Tagbilaran last week for illegal parking..Just found out that all I need to do is to throw it away as the computer system that deals with these tickets are not installed yet.
Thats why I love this country!!
What a nice feeling it is to crumple one of these things up and confidently give it a good rugby kick over my provincial fence!!
Ahhhh Bliss.

Was the ticket given in a commercial carpark like a multistory or NCP, or was it given on the roadside? If it's in a commercial carpark, with a bit of know how, you have no need to pay it.

Yeah, I did that on my Gixer thou a few years ago, I was doing about a ton and this blackbird flew into the front of my bike, it hit the edge of the air intake, and cut itself in half. Half was hanging on the outside, while all the guts and juices got rammed into the air box and filter. Not a nice clean up job YUK!! Got photos somewhere :doh

I hope you people aren't silly enough to pay for those tickets that you get from Macdonalds car parks B & Q car parks Tesco car parks etc.... those tickets are issued by con artists who portray themselves as an authority! Don't even contact them or give them your details!

They are NOT the council! But they portray themselves as being so by giving you ticket with a PCN???????? number...? Official parking tickets from the council have a PCN which is the 'Penalty Charge Number' but these guys are NOT the council...so what the flip does there 'PCN' mean???? They also give you an £80 fine which is reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days - This is also copying the usual puff which is typical with official tickets from the council.

So what I'm trying to make you all realise here is that theses tickets we pick up at MacDonalds/Tesco/B & Q car parks etc They are NOT even Penalty Charge Notice tickets! How could they be? These people aren't traffic wardens, they're just con artists portraying themselves as such!

well sorry to spoil your fun but dont park where you should not, :action-smiley-081: The parking situation has got worse over the years, we are fighting for a space to park in out there! It's because of the amount of cars on the roads these days..., it's not the councils fault, but it's not the publics fault either! We are being forced to bear the brunt of the problem though!:doh

It's a great money spinner for the councils,in Harrogate they have created a ridiculous amount of "disabled" parking spaces,I'm not against special concessions for disabled at all and as it is they can stop nearly anywhwere apart from a taxi rank.

The problem is the ratio is all wrong,if you had 2 % of disabled people in Harrogate then you do not need 25% disabled parking spaces,so outside the popular Mcdonalds its all disabled parking, the council know a hungry person is going to chance it and nip in for his big mac, meanwhile the security camera spins round, parking please are aletred and rush to nab him:NoNo:

Meanwhile the 20 disabled parking spaces behind him are usually all empty:doh

I hate the greed and stealth tax of things like this.

Meanwhile so much money is raised we have lots of parking offices driving in lots of shiny new vans:censored:

Not always as imple as that Steve, it's not always clear where we are allowed to park, even the wording can be misleading.........I know they have a job to do , but there is an element of nastiness in some of them.
If someone obviously parks without any thought or concern and in a dangerous place then they deserve to be fined..........but and heres another point, some yrs ago near where i lived it was' illegal' to park outside a certain McD's, yellow lines etc, it was a very wide road and you could have almost parked cars 2 wide on both sides and still leave room for traffic, but no parking allowed.....untill they removed the yellow lines and introduced parking meters, now you can park as long as you like as long as you PAY.......its just a racket as we all know

Most hospitals in the UK make something under 1% of their budget from car parking charges. In one year Leeds General Infirmary issued over 10,000 parking tickets, generating over £140,000 :yikes: Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust clamped over 1600 cars , and made nearly £2 million also in one year:yikes: The system is unfair, making a stressful time worse, and it's not uniformly applied ( mostly free in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland) :NoNo: About a year ago former Health Secretary Andy Burnham announced that hospital car parking charges would be scrapped in the next 3 years for England ...but the Coalition Government has "no current plans to carry this out" :doh

Got a ticket for an overstay at a carpark in Southampton, since it was a private car park the so called ticket is actually an invoice. Unlike an official parking ticket which is issued to the vehicle and its owner, the invoice is issued to the driver. I followed up with a letter to the company saying that I did not know who the driver was at the time of issue (could have been my missus or me!), thus no further action was taken.
I was surprised how quickly they slapped it on the windscreen, because it again was only around 5 minutes which I thought they'd never bother me for!

Quite a scary thing Doc! Shouldn't really need to pay for parking at a hospital.

hmm we own the hospitals why on earth should we have to pay to park there:cwm23:

No, Alan ... both Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, and Perth Royal Infirmary operate *parking charges - even for staff [which is PARTICULARLY unfair!] - so NHS Tayside (for one) evidently hasn't scrapped *them. :NoNo:

I did say mostly free Arthur, to make my point and keep it brief, but you're quite right of course, there are so-called PFI (Private Finance Initiative) hospitals in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow which charge , and in Dundee cancer patients don't pay ! But this just highlights the lack of uniformity and total unfairness of charges which cause stress and at best save the taxpayer less than 1% of the NHS budget.

Just looked it up "Car parking at Harrogate Hospital raised £1.47m between 2006 and 2008."

The money raised is to maintain car park:yikes:
