i may be asking a silly question on this one, sorry anyway
on Application form VAF2 - Settlement (PDF, 139K)

i can not get my head around question 5.8
5.8 Is this an arranged marriage/civil partnership ?
what does that mean in plain old english ? (sorry from west midlands)

your not married yet and your looking at a settlement visa ! ?
thing you need first is a 2yr spouse visa b4 that.. and after 2 years apply for settlement
oh and for your question,
5.8 Is this an arranged marriage/civil partnership ?
plain english, an arranged marriage is usually when the parents choose their son's or daughter's future spouse (usually Indian, muslim's)
and for civil partnetship, it enables a same-sex couple to register as civil partners of each other under UK law.
usually both wouldn't apply to most people on here.

am i looking at competely the wrong application form for a fiance visa ??
totally confused now!!!

Thats the correct form. VAF2 is for spouse and fiancee visa. Good luck on ur application and God Bless.

got worried for a while, thinking i was doing everything wrong:doh
off to phils friday and then to boracay when we up (and try to advise what documents she needs to produce the next time im there,if we decide to go for a visa)
my girlfriend soon fiancee will have to produce her birth certificate for visa application, does the copy have to been original/ certified or just photocopy

Yes one sets of original and one sets of photo copy as they will return all the original back to you and keep the photo copy..
