I just wondered what TV system is used in Phils ? I was thinking of shipping over my TV at some point, but if it wont work, I wont bother. Of course my xbox is also on PAL system. I could ship it just to play my xbox..... but I'm not made of money lol

I thought a lot of the new gear worked on both NTSC and PAL. Then again I just have my computer setup with BBC iPlayer through a proxy server, so no need for any of that.
Whatever you decide, you can also setup a 'Slingbox' should you want to watch TV from home!

Don't give up on that TV.
I've been trying to find some info I have on that from Brits who shipped.
As I recall, if it's a newish one (3yrs or less) it will have been built with NTSC in addition to PAL (and maybe SECAM)
You can either set the system yourself or an engineer can set-up for you.
I'll try to find that info (it's somewhere on my PC)
In any case you can use it for digital signals, DVD players, Xbox, Karaoke etc
Oh. by the way don't bother shipping plasma, it would have to be LCD.
As with all other electrical goods from UK you need to think about the frequency (cycles per second). RP is 60Hz UK is 50Hz and this can make a difference.
Also the RP voltage is not as constant as UK.
Anything with a timer circuit is going to be problematic.

Is the TV better in the Philippines than the UK?
What are the best programmes?

Ricky - have a look at www.seesaw.co.uk - another catch up TV site (BBC,ITV, C4, C5) I guess it should work OK via your proxy - where it's different is that as well as loads of free stuff there is pay per view also no adverts.

the tv in the philipines is :censored: and the reception is even worse :NoNo:
most modern tv's can display both pal and ntsc, thats why if you have your xbox chipped to play foreign games you can see them.
if your going to watch dvd's or blurays you just need to check everything will work, as long as your not buying the cheap stuff from your local supermarket it should all work fine ie a decent branded make :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Well, I did a bit of a search for the model number of my tv (Sony Bravia) and it appears to be used with PAL NTSC and SECAM, so I guess I could take it............ and my xbox yipppeeeee!! :D

of course u can use tv from uk in the phils...and can play xbox as well as playstation...there's cable system in phils as well...and u can buy nice telly just like in the uk in big shops (hd..lcd..plasma) just that its a bit more expensive....and if u want nice reception u need to get hd cable to connect tv to xbox, dvd player etc. ..if my memory serves me right just before i left phils sky cable is working on for HD cable...we using lcd tv in phils and hubbys xbox, extension box, etc works fine :)
