View Full Version : Filipina's - Shaven or not.......

IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK! :yikes::icon_lol:
What do the Filipina's on here reckon to a man with a beard? Now I'm away from home, I'm contemplating growing one but I note I don't really see many Filipino's with any sort of facial hair*. Partly not having the genetics for it, I would guess, but I suspect Filipina's prefer their men clean shaven?
* Pacman, at the moment, excepted. Although he hasn't really gone for the full on beard. Maybe he'll bring it into fashion?

When I'm on my hols I prefer to not shave every day and leave it 3 or 4 days, but I've always been nagged to shave every day by any female partner (Filipina or English)

I guess it depends on one's taste. Some may find facial hair attractive but I think most associate cleanliness without the beard. Personally, I don't mind having a bit of facial hair..more like a 'goatee' like this ..

Speaking of 'goatees' ... those of you who've been members here for a while, may remember me :olddude: sporting one in some of my earlier [honeymoon] photos displayed in the ' Gallery'. And, if I were being totally honest with myself  ... I'd say I preferred it to my present clean shaven chin. But my dear lady wife - not to mention most of her friends - think I look much younger without! :doh What a dilemma ... who'd be a man, eh!?

Suffice to say ... as things are at the moment, my 92-year-old aunt :oldlady: had more tufts on her chin last time I saw her during the summer, than I have right now! :cwm24:

ok, ok. for me, i get mine waxed if there are special occasions. its actually hormonal imbalance when girls get them. as for the guys, it really depends on how you carry it. here, it's beginning to be the IN thing for some guys to have goatees. and yes, it wont be good around sensitive skins especially babies.

lol Arthur,
I probably have the wrong spelling, but when my mahal gets hurt, you know like stubbing her toe or slipping on a banana skin... instead of saying 'Ouch!!' she says 'Array' (Arai?? sp)
Maybe one of our Filipinas can verify my spelling :Erm:

Ok, something I noticed years ago when I worked with many Filipino guys in Saudi, was that they seemed to be in competition in growing facial hair. The thing was that the hairs only grew from moles/birthmarks on thier faces.. I have also notices some ladies in Phils doing the same. Why is that? If it were me, I would be plucking as soon as I saw one. Any ideas? :Erm:

Haha, I think I have my answer.
Someone on another thread posted the British film 'Filipina Dream Girls' and there is a hilarious scene where they arrive at the airport in Manila. One of the guys on the trip is a big hairy Welsh bloke and when his Filipina pen pal first sees him from a distance, she is happy. Then he gets closer and she ends up running away! :icon_lol: And he was told that it was down to the beard!

For whatever reason pinoy barbers CANNOT shave a beard, nor stubble either:bigcry: I have only ever twice popped into barbers here for hot-towel shaves,I thought they would be the same as those I enjoyed each morning in India, hot towel, expertly applied cut-throat and super-smooth finish,WRONG:rolleyes: Sure they covered my face with a hot towel, thats where the experience veered wildly off-track as both times my face was scraped with a plastic disposable BIC type razor leaving me red-rash painful :NoNo:Nopt something I am in a rush to endure again

I find that having a beard in the Phils makes no difference to being hot or not, but it can cover up some ugly faces. ;)
