Don't pay for drum lessons! I did that and all I learnt was "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and.." you do that counting thing on the high hat and then bring everything else in with it sort of thing..
Get tips from YouTube!:)
There's an American guy called Bob Gatzen on there who is VERY good at teaching you how to tune and maintain your drum kit!
My only advice would be to be mindful of how you arrange your kit, your stool height and where your snare sits positioned and height and so on. If you just quickly arrange your drums and say 'bah, that'll do' you probably wont play very well, and get aches and pains and stuff!:doh Following professional advice on how to set your drum positions and heights will make you better drummer right away!:)

My kit sounds like dynamite after getting tips from Bob!:xxgrinning--00xx3:
I've got my snare tuned to a middle c on top, and tuned to an a on the under skin, and toms tuned d (hi tom) a (mid tom) and e (floor tom) a lot of drummers just make their skins resonate, some like to tune them like I do!:)
