Went to the match last night, took ages to get in as for some reason there were only about 4 turnstiles open for the Matthew Harding Upper Stand.

Game of two halves first 45 mins our youthful team crap showing lack of confidence. 2nd half Kalou brought on for Kakuta, we camped out in their half and bombarded the goal. Great views of both goals from where I was, job done. Best team in Europe so far this season the only club to win all five matches.

This success summed up the Chelsea of recent weeks: only two goals from 31 attempts, traces of uncertainty detectable, a shortage of leaders, all eyes on the musical chairs in the dugout but an enduring togetherness in the team’s DNA. Chelsea are riding the storms.

Shrugging off a poor first half in which Babatounde Bello scored, Carlo Ancelotti’s side guaranteed their status as group winners with goals from Daniel Sturridge and Florent Malouda. A point would have done it but all three gave the headlines a warmer glow.

If any doubts linger over Ancelotti’s future, the determined response of his players and the coach’s own important tactical switch, removing Gaël Kakuta for Salomon Kalou, highlighted his calibre, one that Roman Abramovich would be mad to risk losing.
