Hi all!
Happy to find myself here and amongst like minded friends who have been there, gonna be there or being there right now!
So....am born and bred in the UK amd engaged to a lovely sweet Filipina I met in Japan and will be marrying in Baguio, Phils. (March this year)
Just want to check I have the procedure right and have remembered EVERYTHING. lol. Would hate to get their and find their was something forgotton and the wedding will not go ahead after all the arrangements and honeymoon have been paid for.
:doh
Can you check my list and point out any omissions. And also little things it would be handy to know before I go over and can prepare for in advance. Thanks in advance for your time in posting and reading this thread.
1) CNI from uk registrar
2) Innoculations
3) Change CNI at Manila British Embassy
4) Bring divorce Certificate, 10 year Passport
5) Apply wedding licence
6) Attend Family Planning Seminar
(all 14 days before wedding)
Scared to death I get their and am asked for something I forgot!
Having the wedding at the Baguio Country Club. Any thoughts? Probably should have asked that before I booked it...
Take care and have a great day!

i wonder whats happened to the airport at bagiuo ??
http://article.wn.com/view/2008/11/14/Baguio_airport_loses_last_commercial_carrier/
closed, aisan spirit was the last airline to close end of 2008 :NoNo:
well the other option is to hire a taxi and do a deal with them, who could take you there and bring you back, thats what we had to do when the weather was bad going back to manila and the planes were grounded. had to buy them lunch and it took over 2 or 3 hrs i think
Terpe
3rd January 2011, 09:24
So sorry YorkshirePuddin. I had no idea that those flights had stopped.
That is really strange with so many tourists and business people wanting to get there and back quickly.
Hmmm, looks like you will have very little choice.
Why not check out the websites of the buses to compare on-board facilities and schedule times to see which is better for you.
The alternative would be either taxi or van and driver. But if you are travelling alone and have no contacts, then the bus would be better.
Be aware of any rules for the purchase of valid tickets.
Be aware of the length of time it may take to journey, and be prepared for your comfort.
Have you travelled by road to Baguio before?

When me and my husband now went to City Registrar to apply for a marriage license, one of the requirements for both of us was our CENOMARs. Please see the link below, maybe it would help.

I already told you, you need the CENOMAR :doh It's what your wife to be needs to get (Certificate of no marriage)...to prove she is free to marry you.
Just get the license, where you intend to marry...Baguio.

Yes I understand that my fiancé needs the cenomar, I was asking if I also needed a cenomar (as well as cni) as josiey indicated. Sorry this all new to me. Please understand.
It would have been helpful to get marriage licence in Manila before I headed to Baguio which is why I was asking if it was possible.

Hello YorkshirePuddin,
I just want to say that in our experience (Husband and me), both of us were asked for a CENOMAR. What we did was we both went to NSO to get it. We applied for marriage license in Cebu City. I just dont know if it is also required in the other cities here in the Philippines. You can ask your fiancee to inquire in Baguio city hall.
And you are required to have your CNI. It is different from cenomar.
My fiance (now husband) only brought with him his CNI, Birth certificate, passport and baptism certificate.

thanks guys!
Ok another question.... (sorry)....
There are 2 weeks from landing to the wedding date (including weekends) - so 10 working days...
Is that enough time to change cni in manila and then travel to Baguio for wedding licence application and seminar...begginning to think I am cutting it fine....:yikes:
Baguio registrar seem to think it will not be done in time!

Get to the Embassy ASAP on arrival in Manila, providing it is within opening hours of course.
You're supposed to pick it up the next day, but if you explain your tight schedule, they might do it sameday??? as someone else on here managed to get it...Also depends what day it is?
Get to the Registrars as soon as you can...License will take 10 working days, though we got ours in 10 straight days (though this dosen't appear to be the norm) Hopefully, you should just about have enough time.
...Just re-read your post. If you meant you have 10 days, from changing your CNI to having the marriage license in your hand, then 10 days probably wont be enough?

I have been to Baguio a few times and as far as I know there is no problem with bandits, always felt safe there, and cool.
We always either drive ourselves with a hire car or people carrier or hire a man+van, the buses frighten the life out of me. They are fast and we are constantly overtaken by them on the mountain roads.
You have more chance of meeting bandits in Boracay, they are called Hoteliers or touts:)

You should get your fiance to order your cenomar she will need the details from your birth certificate especialy your parents names in full she can order it now from the n.s,o. localy
get her to check for a D.S.W.D seminar that you can both attend immediatly you arive you need this certificate to apply for the liscence just did mine yesterday
Your timing is tight and you might need to look further afield for the seminar because some places have once a week depending demand
I would say its dificult to know what time is needed because you never know what your local office will come up with
if She is under 25 count on needing both parents to attend the apllication :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Thanks again.
Also......if you have come across this thread because you are thinking of using the Baguio Country Club for your wedding. DONT!!!!!!
I will be writing a detail review on tripadvisor in due course but after a string of them messing things up, lack of communication, they suddenly decided that they had "double booked" 6 weeks before the wedding was due. A big company has booked the ballroom...call me cynical but perhaps they were making more profit then my 100guest wedding...

hi there yorkshirepuddin,
yes that is where the Uk embassy is. i was there in December. It is situated on a slight hill and the gates are about 20 meters from the road. the taxi driver drove straight past it first time we went!:doh At the bottom of the hill is the Korean Embassy if you see that you gone too far. I hope this helps

Once I was out there the worrying stops, I was just happy being with mahal. everything will work out for you. make sure you get to the embassy early morning, as that will get the ball rolling for you, remember to take your tickets to baguio if you have to go early next day as they will get it ready for next day morning instead of afternoon for you. My friend had her wedding reception at BCC last december and the place was nice and they are also friendly. My aunt help her book the place because she's working there. And most of the wedding coordinators here will actually ask if you like BCC or John Hay. BCC is cheaper compared to other hotels here.
I'm sorry to hear that it didn't go well with BCC. But enjoy your stay here in Baguio. My boyfriend will be arriving on April.

I will get my CNI here in the UK then when we get to the British enbassy in Manila change my CNI for the local version (CENOMAR) do you know the cost for this..
from there to sumar present my papers and Maricris's papers to the registrar.
Yes this is correct...You need to take your CNI to the Embassy & then pick up the Philippine version from the Embassy the next day & then off to your local Registrars, to apply for the marriage license...Can't remember the cost off hand? :Erm:

You have to remember though, you & me got married in the same city & used the same Registrars.
KeithAngel tells another story & it seems they have been a lot stricter in all proceedures where he is getting married.
...A cautionary tale here folks...make sure you are aware of the requirements of the particular area you are marrying, as they vary greatly & maybe different to information given here. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Both places mentioned had a written list of requirements for the application to commence but as Sim says check in advance
The application for licence is hung for 10 days like our "Bans" and the issuing of it says that ALL paperwork required has been submitted so there is a certain logic involved.
As Ive said earlier interpretation of the rules can be a problem here in the Phils but the minimum we can do is prepare for what is written as requirements and adapt if we get thrown a curve ball.:xxgrinning--00xx3:

I've always wondered about the "family planning seminar" being compulsory, sometimes I read it is not compulsory beyond a specific age limit...........
An expat friend in his 60s was required to attend the seminar.I found it a bit insulting that he had to join the group of teenagers to discuss family planning methods but when in Rome...etc.etc
Mind you I find it slightly insulting that Filipinos are required to pass an English language test before their visa can be processed.
