You can always rely on the UKBA for a good story :icon_lol:

A Latvian woman has pleaded guilty to sham marriage offences after she was caught by the UK Border Agency in bed with another man the day before her bogus wedding was due to take place.

Irina Iljina, 22, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on 6 January along with the man she was going to marry, Parminder Singh, also 22. Both pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to breach immigration laws. Singh also admitted a perjury charge.

its time europeans had to produce the same evidence as brits if they want to wed and bring thier partner here..

even better pull out of the EU and let them both apply for visa's same as everyone else. :cwm23:

This is the first picture of a bride-to-be who was rumbled on the eve of her sham wedding - when she was found in bed with another man.

Irina Iljina from Latvia, 22, was due to marry Indian national Parminder Singh, 22, on December 17.

As the husband of a European national Mr Singh would have been granted long-term UK residency and benefits.

But suspicious UK Border Agency officers decided to raid Ms Iljina's home the night before her big day.

She was found in bed with her boyfriend in what officials described as 'compromising circumstances'.

The pair living in Peterborough both pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to breach immigration laws.

I'd better make sure to be all over my boyfriend whenever we apply for anything in the UK then. :icon_lol: I'm gonna have to learn to be clingy if I don't want to give a "scammy" impression. :omg:

i cant remember if your sentenced to more than 1yr or u spend 1yr in prison you should be automatically be in the process of being deported.

Joe I have some info straight from the horses mouth here in the form of a letter from Dominic Green MP Immigration Minister to Home Secretary Theresa May in response to a letter I sent her raising the issue of "automatic" deportation of criminals.

I quote

your constituent asks why the UKBA cannot change its policy from "autmatically considered for deportation" to "automatically deport" ?

it then states that under the UK Borders Act 2007 a foreign national is automatically considered for deportation when they receive a custodial sentence of 12 months. The duty must be considered in light of a persons rights as provided for by both domestic and European legislation blah blah blah. It then gives a long list of get outs and exceptions eg breaching the persons convention rights, breaching community treaties, mental health etc.

The only bit that got me thinking was he said "If a foreign national is exempt from automatic deportation, the UKBA is still able to pursue deportation under the Immigration Act 1971 if the Secretary of State believes that their presence is not conductive to the public good". Then there is spin about 5000 odd being removed in 2009 using a combination of automatic deportation and immigration powers. As one of Secretary of State May's constituents I'm thinking of writing back to her saying what are her thoughts on my belief that all jailed foreign crims are against the public good and therefore she should be deporting them all :D
