I move 31st jan to southampton date now confirmed. have been down today and seen a flat and its ok but soooo small. everything so much dearer down there. had to rehome max (my dog) and those of u who know me will understand how hard that was.
my house has gone already first to see it after one day on the rental market and its rented from march. so good and bad things from this new job and life. any contacts in southampton please say hi as i need a few friends there. i am away most of next week back to my old office for 5 days and then move. i have a set of drums for sale too (no room) in this flat.:NoNo: still onwards and upwards hey. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I was really saddened to read this. Except for the 'onwards and upwards ' thought at the end.

thanks for all the kindness, i am really looking forward to my new job and the new life in southampton. my intention was not to make anyone think i was not looking forward to it. just noted down some really hard stuff such as losing max :bigcry:

I am a real Merc fan and still have two including W140 S320 (originally cost £72k)
Apart from the fact they cost an arm and a leg the maintenance is cruel.
A set of wipers for my S320 is £98

Why not consider something like Mazda MX5. Nice, reliable, cheap, and so pretty. The 1.8 goes like .........
I had a special edition with leather interior and walnut trim. By gosh it hugged that road and was quick.

As you are moving to a flat does it have private parking?

I live in a block of flats with a car park, but however far from other cars I try to park my doors get paint knocks on all the time.:crazy:

I try to keep my Ford KA clean but wonder if it is worth it at times:doh

The up-side of a small place is that it's a lot easier to take care of, and should be cheaper on bills. :)

If you do get a nice sporty car (Mine is a TVR), you can probably rent a garage for not too much.

A 'classic' type of car will be really cheap to insure too.
Mine is group 20 and only costs me £160 a year (5,000 miles) fully comp on classic car policy, and that's a convertible car that will top 150 and get to 60 in about 5 secs. :)
