Hi

I have a 4 month old son who is in the Philippines. Please can someone tell me what the process for getting him a British passport and a British birth certificate is? I am named as father on his Filipino birth certificate.

Many thanks in advance
David

Warning Warning OFF TOPIC

Hey David,
Just from your avater, were you on TV today? (The Big Question)
Or was it your twin?
Answer to your question regarding process will come. It's not difficult, just application to British Embassy with correct paperwork. Not a big issue.

Hi I'm just going through the same process. You can do it in Manila at the British Embassy or at the Honourary Consul in Cebu.
The first thing you need to do is make sure you have your son's Filipino Birth Certificate on NSO Security Paper. Then you need to complete Birth Registration Form and the Declarations of Paternity/Maternity.
You need your wifes birth certificate on NSO paper and passport, and the same for you. All information is here

The exact information is here http://ukinthephilippines.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/living-in-the-philippines/how-register-birth-and-death/how-register-birth

After that you can apply for the British Passport, and because it's the first passport you can apply for it at the Embassy in Manila (takes about 4 - 8 weeks to receive it after that) .

You need this form http://centralcontent.fco.gov.uk/resources/en/pdf/central-content-pdfs/form-c2

Details here http://ukinhongkong.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports/how-to-apply/philippines/first-time-applications

No need to book an appointment all paper work can be sent via LBC to the embassy .
when we did our daughters we had to apply for the british brith certificate first which took 2 weeks and then apply for her passport which also took 2 weeks.
it may take longer for passports now as they do not print them at the manila embassy now but send them from hong kong

give the embassy a call in manila i found them very helpfull
