We (me, my asawa and her mum)managed to get to the big city this trip, and we've seen Rizal Park and the Intramuros. The park and the monument are pretty impressive; poor Jose Rizal, the Spanish made him walk five kilometers before he was shot. Also, we made a couple of trips to the Mall of Asia. That is also huge and a credit to the Philippines, if only the whole of the country was of a similar standard. :)

I always like going to Manila, but after 3 or 4 days I want to get out and see the provinces. It's good to see the ugly parts to remind myself that it's not all like Ayala/Makati or MOA. Earlier today I was thinking to myself that I have been to Manila on 9 separate occasions and I still haven't been to Intramuros, hopefully I can see it when I'm there in April

Manila is the center of all diversities of life in Philippines.. I am from Cebu and I always love it.. as a true filipina/filipino we are always proud of our birthplace no matter how bad the condition is because it help us nurture and become a good person... except for bad ones (well, they are everywhere in the world)

I love the Urban jungle (MANILA)...I was born and raised in one of its city called Mandaluyong...and go home every weekend to my province Batangas...best of both worlds except the trees ,the farm animals, tall buildings ,city lights ,malls ,fashion updates ,billboards ,new restaurant etc..:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Manila is nice. Greenbelt, Ocean Park, Ortigas, Makati, & Quezon City... It's really nice. If you want to go to malls or dine & drink, dance, have fun, night out stuff like that, I say Manila is the City that you will enjoy. I am proud Manilenya but from time to time, I visit provinces to enjoy nature, have fun on the beach, and eat fresh food.--> Now this is something you can not have in Manila. Basically, Philippines is a nice country. We just need to take care of it.:hubbahubba:

manila is ok for short visits. living there:NoNo: not in my wildest dreams. pot holes, pollutions, traffic, trash littering on the streets and alms begging kids along the traffic lights. Recently while riding a taxi from the airport, a young man opened the passenger side of the taxi door and tried to grab my handbag:angry: quickly enough the taxi driver speed away before that young robber got hold of my bag.. Be careful in travelling. I just got my share of mishaps.:doh

:Erm: .... and here's me thinking it's through lack of choice and they'd rather be anywhere else but where they are

I wouldn't say I like it. I'm a country boy at heart but I'm used to the big city coming from London. I think the thing I enjoy most is that you have a bit of independence here. I hate being ferried around in taxis, waiting in traffic etc. Hell, I was fed up in London with driving because of the traffic and public transport just wasn't accessible for me. I'm someone who just wants to get going and I can actually do that better here than compared with London. I also like the variety of the nightlife here. There are a couple of good Indie music venues. The expat bars are also very busy and have a quite diverse crowd. On balance, it is pretty good. The only thing I really hate is the humidity.

while I was on stop on a traffic,..Ive seen some squatters who got a complete set of home appliances than an average filipino household (ie washing machine, karaoke machine, ref, industrial fan,32 inches tv and airconditioner):yikes::omg:
